ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. I've had Exel Freedom Plan since mid-2015. Until last February we were completely satisfied. Speeds were at or above the advertised 12mbps most of the time. Recently we've seen enormous slowdowns starting around 6-7 pm every evening, and continuing through the early hours of the morning. Speeds so slow they won't support audio, let alone video streams. Exede reps admit that the network is overloaded but offer little immediate hope for improvement. Exede had planned to launch another satellite earlier this year that would have eased congestion but its been delayed. In the meanwhile, some suspect that Exede is intentionally throttling Freedom Plan users because we get a better rate per GB than their other current plan. Also, because they get a better return on their investment by selling bandwidth to airlines like Lufthansa whose passengers pay dearly for airborne internet. We got the Freedom Plan because we wanted to stream movies and not sweat data caps.
Unfortunately, the cap is meaningless if the service too slow to use your 150GM/month allowance. I get it that internet ISPs have more complicated and expensive challenges than terrestrial ISPs. But I rate Exede (actually Via-Sat) poorly for failing to come clean with its customers and give us some reason to stick around. I suppose they know they've got most of us by the short hairs since the local competition (Hughes) is pitiful too and don't offer anything as generous as the Freedom Plan-if it worked.)

This internet service is the worst service. Customer service is a joke. They don't explain the first three months are a promotional price,then your price gets raised to 90 dollars instead of 60. The service is slow then after two weeks it gets slower. I wish I had read the reviews before I got this junk .

Can there be less than one star? These people are nothing but a scam. They will hook you up and give you some speed for a few days then your speed will drop to .33 mbps. Not even fast enough to to send a simple text e-mail. After hours on the phone with tech support, they determined that my internet was so slow that they couldn't even run a speed test. I run a business out of my home and this was just not workable. Today I find out that I will be charged another 269.00 for an "early disconnection fee" even though they knew it didn't work and they couldn't fix it. This was an expensive rip off. Don't even think about it.

Iwas told by a tech it was a tree limb blocking signal and after cutting away at my tree I have only off and on service just like before trimming the tree. I was told I would have to pay 95 dollars service call if I called again and I could pay an associate 150 dollars to move the dish. BULLSHIT!!!!!! I am looking at other options needless to say
Guess what.....you even have to rate them to post this. 1 is too good

I cannot give any stars because only the stars belong to the very best. Below is my letter I sent to Exede today. Funny how they document somethings but not others.

MY LETTER TO EXEDE AND PUTTING ON REVIEW PAGES

You (exede) can help me by doing business honestly and documenting all things. I canceled my account on April 24, 2017 at 4:12 PM - ( but of course it was NOT documented. I also said DO NOT TOUCH MY MONEY but Exede did anyway. I called my bank and they told me to get on a three way call to get a code so that the pending charge would be dropped and was told by Exede " can't do that, not documented " So other option was a stop payment.

I ended up with Exede via Direct TV due to the Verizon sell out. I had a bundle plan with them, very affordable. Direct TV person gave me a price for the TV and then said it would be bundled with Internet ( Exede ) bundled was a lie and a way for me to sign on. The prices I was quoted are way different. Was told I'd be paying less then I was with Verizon LIE # 1 ....

I have had it and canceled on April 24, 2017 but apparently ( and did not know this until to day that the person I spoke with did NOT document that conversation.

I was told to call in now on May 10, 2017 to cancel (AGAIN). I need to get my notes so I can incorporate them with my letter to the attorney general's office. I will be printing them all off .

I despise both Exede and Direct TV and refuse to work with. From the onset I was told from the Direct TV person that I would be happy with Exede Internet Lie # 2 and I'd be thrilled with Direct TV Lie # 3

I look back now and see what an IDIOT I am for not reading reviews about both companies. Exede takes the cake. The reviews are horrendous. I will be going to my local News Station if they mess cannot be worked out. It is NOT my fault that you ( Exede Wildblue ) has employees that fail to always do the completed job i.e, documenting everything, or worse, really does not know how to do their jobs.

I said on April 24, 2017 to cancel this account and to NOT TOUCH MY MONEY. Exede makes it impossible for customers to not be able to be in control of their own money and you provide nothing that allows a customer to drop out of auto pay. Well NO ONE listened and now I am being told that the April 24 th call was not documented ....well I did document that call. I tooks notes and saved them in a document.

Today I had to call in 6 times before I was able to speak to a supervisor being hung up on the first 5 calls while someone from my bank USAA was on hold for over an hour trying to hook up a three way call to get a code to drop the pending charge.

Exede has ruined my life .. had to cancel Netflix then buy more data that NO one ever told me about .. got Netfilx again but still have issues due to the data. Exede is a rip off and the number of on line reviews are staggering.

Exede pretty much controls what (victims, i.e., customers do and cannot do). I do not upload movies or anything like that. I read and write email if and when I can open them which often takes 20 minutes or more. The speed is just horrible. A 95 old person could cross 5 lanes of highway faster then I can connect. Unreal and sickening.

Money hungry greedy is my opinion and I totally regret ever believing that Exede cares about their customers. The lies are easy to tell, to snag in poor Souls that just want to go on line. Since you do not and will not stop my auto pay I may forced to change my banking cards which will be a royal pain, but feel I may have no choice, because I cannot afford my money to be stolen. My phone calls today did nothing ... they have not stopped my auto pay as I instructed them to do on April 24, 2017 and they did not stop auto pay today. My bank is aware and it will most likely red flagged, if Exede tries using my bank account again.

In my opinion a Class Action Suit should be filed against companies like this. The complaints I have read of late are MANY and NO one is happy but a rare few. Like the Timer Warner Class Action, it should happen too with this company.. I did not know until today that Exede bills in ADVANCE PLUS I WAS NEVER HANDED ANY CONTRACT BY THE INSTALLER. Installed fast in and out and explained NOTHING to me. And the Router ..grrrrrrrrrrrrr what a royal pain. Connecting has not been a fun thing.

BUT EXEDE OBVIOUSLY WILL BEAR NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT'S ACTIONS OR INACTIONS. THEY WILL NOT TAKE OWNERSHIP FOR ALL THE MISTAKES AND LIES AND RUDENESS OF THEIR EMPLOYEES .. AND NOT ALL ARE RUDE THERE WERE ONE OR TWO THAT WERE DECENT AND UNDERSTOOD, BUT I FELT LIKE THEIR HANDS WERE TIRED - EVEN THOUGH I BELIEVED THEY WANTED TO HELP. IF THEY HAD, MOST LIKELY THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED.

I AM SO DONE, YOU CAN PUT A FORK IN ME! GOING TO PLACE THIS IN EVERY REVIEW PAGE I CAN FIND, AND THE LOCAL NEWS MEDIA, AMONG OTHER PLACES.
I am one very unhappy victim ... shame on you Exede

We learned a HARD, EXPENSIVE lesson Today, and that's ALWAYS read "CUSTOMER'S REVIEWS"!!!!
I feel like a TRUSTING BAFOON; Yes, I agree...I am One...
I believed EVERYTHING the "Salesperson" said without question....She told me I would need a "wi-fi" router and I could BUY one from Wal-Mart or pay EXEDE a extra $5.99 a month.While I was trying to decide what to do (Duhhh???) she decided to be SUPER Nice, Helpful and Kind and "GIVE" me a router!!! WOW!!!WOW, free router, fast, fast fast internet speed, no dial-up, OH HAPPY, HAPPy, JOY, JOY!!!
She promised I would be sooo satisfied with the service....(YES!!! ANYTHING is better than dial-up)Anyway, all is WEll for less than a week; having a high old time playing on our cell phones....YIPPEE...THEN the wi-fi started going "on & off, on a few sec.& off a few; THEN off for hours OR until I "reset" router"!!! Called EXEDE & was on phone for 3hrs. (I TRULY feel your PAIN) Tech Guy comes out to check it & said "NOTHING" was wrong. I FINALLY got FED-UP & called my NEW FRIEND; I'll admit I did YELL at her first...then she yells back and told me she KNEW the router had not been working for 3 weeks...HUH?????
Today my husband "MOUTH OF THE SOUTH" decides to call EXEDE back since they had NOT returned yesterday's call. Somehow he called the "local company-DIGITAL DESIGN and I talked to Tech Guy and he FINALLY told me the router was BAD & he was sorry, BUT he had no control over "BUYING/GIVING AWAY" BAD ROUTERS.....He was soooo sorry BUT there was nothing he could do!!!! I called EXEDE, Rep. told me there was NOTHING she could do about a company that works for them giving away BAD equipment; AND she would be more than happy to "disconnect" my service....(I'm thinking Hey this is GREAT)All I have to do is climb a pole, fall off a ladder AND pay $350.00!!! OK

call newspaper & TV station & TELL everyone he meets!!!He's calling a attorney as well!!!

Exede is a joke. I upgraded to the faster modem which claimed 25MB. HAHA. This thing is crap. I get around 5mb tops! Since the data is capped i run out of data after 10 days. I NEVER NEVER use on Demand or downlaod any movies -EVER. All i use is Facebook, email and occasional YouTube clips. If i were to watch On Demand movies i would be out of data in 2 days. Im stuck in a f'ing contract with these bozo's for 2 year. Blow me exede, only an unknowing idiot would ever use this low grade service. OH im also paying $89.00 a month for this crap. just kill me

It To A Friend?: NOR EVEN TO ENEMIES 

I have it installed in a WEEKEND home. Every friday night I have to call them since the service is slower than dial up. The constant excuse is you went over your data so the bring down speed. Absolutely a joke!! The first season I guess they put the best service for new customers but then they really screw the customers with the over your data bs.. I even tricked them by not being there one weekend turning the router off but when i got back the following weekend when my cycle starts fresh I already went over my data limits.. Called my charge co. to block their invoices and lets just see...
After reading some of these reviews and you still order the service, you deserve it!


PLEASE DON'T, YOU WILL REGRERET IT!!

FIRST OFF, LET ME SAY THAT I READ EVERY REVIEW ON HERE AND I CAN SAY ITS ALL TRUE! IF YOU SIGN UP YOU WILL REGRET IT FROM THE START. THE DATA ALLOWANCE WILL BE USED UP WITHIN ONE - TWO WEEKS AND YOU WON'T KNOW WHY. YOU CAN CALL THEM AND YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR TIME AND WILL END UP MAD BECAUSE THEY WILL TELL YOU THAT YOU SHOULD NOT USE THAT MUCH AND YOU CAN ALWAYS BUY MORE. YOU WILL BE PAYING FOR DIAL UP INTERNET FOR 2-3 WEEKS A MONTH. I CAN TELL YOU WHY: PLEASE READ: I DISCONNECTED MY SERVICE ON MARCH 28TH OF 2017-- NO CABLE AND NO MODEM HOOKED TO ANYTHING, THE DISH OUTSIDE CONNECTED TO NOTHING.... THE NEXT MONTH I GET CHARGED FOR MAY 1ST SERVICE. I LOGGED INTO MY ACCOUNT WITH EXCEDE TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. FOUND OUT SERVICE WAS STILL ACTIVE. REMEMBER NOW, I HAVE NOTHING CONNECTED AT ALL, WHEN I LOOK MY SERVICE BEGAN MAY 1ST AT MIDNIGHT AND IT IS NOW MAY 1ST AROUND 8:45 P.M. AND IT WAS SHOWING 2.9 GB OF DATA USED. I WAS LIKE I KNEW THEY WEERE STEALING DATA FROM ME. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT BECAME REAL CLEAR WHY I WOULD BE ON LIBERTY PASS IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE GONE MORE THAN WE ARE HOME AND WE DO NOT USE NETFLIX OR ANY STREAMING SERVICE NOR DO WE DOWNLOAD ANYTHING, I JUST KNEW IT WAS WRONG EVERY MONTH AND COULD NEVER PROVE IT UNTIL NOW. EVERY MONTH I FELT AS THOUGH I WAS THROWING 71$ OUT THE WINDOW. AS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORST. PAY ATTENTION TO THIS AS WELL PLEASE: I CALLED AND CANCELLED MY SERVICE ON MARCH 28TH. I THOUGHT IT WAS CANCELLED, ON APRIL 5TH I DISCOVERED I HAD BEEN CHARGED FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL, I CALLED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT CANCELLED CORRECTLY WHEN I CALLED BEFORE. SAID IT WAS A "SYSTEM DEFECT" BUT SHE WOULD CANCEL IT AND TO EXPECT A REFUND IN 10 - 15 BUSINESS DAYS. COME MAY 1ST STILL NO REFUND AND GET EMAIL SAYING MAY PAYMENT IS COMING OUT, I IMMEDIATELY CALL AND WAS INFORMED SERVICE STILL ACTIVE BUT THEY SEE WHERE I PREVIOUSLY CALLED. TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NOT RECEIVE A REFUND FOR APRIL AND MONEY WOULD BE TAKEN OUT FOR MAY AND BEST ADVICE THEY COULD GIVE ME WAS TO DISPUTE IT WITH MY BANK. SO THEY HAVE STOLEN $140 FROM ME SO FAR. I CAN NOT GET A SUPERVISOR ON THE PHONE, THEY SAY THEY ARE TRANSFERRING ME BUT PUT ME ON HOLD IS ALL THEY DO. LAST CALL WAS ON HOLD 1 HOUR AND 37 MINUTES, CALLED BACK AND WAS TOLD THE SUPERVISOR WOULD RETURN MY CALL, I AM STILL WAITING. SO THEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO SEND ME BOXES TO RETURN THE EQUIPMENT AND SAID I ONLY HAVE 30 DAYS OR WOULD BE CHARGED $500 FOR THE EQUIPMENT. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE THE BOXES AND NOW I AM AFRAID THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE THAT MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT. SO, NOW I AM WAITING FOR THE BANK TO OPEN SO I CAN GO SEE IF THEY CAN HELP ME. SO, SIMPLY TRYING TO CANCEL AND DO THE RIGHT THING HAS NOW COST ME $140 SO FAR, TIME OFF WORK TO GO TO THE BANK AND POSSIBLY HAVING TO GO THROUGH THE ORDEAL OF CLOSING MY CHECKING ACCOUNT I HAVE HAD FOR 15 YEARS AND OPENING A NEW ONE TO AVOID THEM STEALING ANY MORE OF MY MONEY. Ordered Excede, had to keep adding to cost to boost our usage. When a storm came through our internet was disconnected upon electricity turning back on, Internet still did not work I called in and was told it was our modem and to call for service...after calling for service Tech I was told because not all electricity had been restored to all areas that we needed to wait a few days for it then it should turn back on...after not hearing anything I called Exede again that all power had been restored to all areas...and we were still down. Again they told me it was our Modem and to call for repair...we also got talked into paying an additional amount to get quicker/priority service.We called for service again and the technician then informed me that Exede Beam 369 was down and should be repaired in a few days and that it was not our modem...I called back Exede to confirm what I was told and they didn't even know that there was a problem with there Beam in our Area and after checking into it they confirmed it was down. We waiting for over 2 weeks still given same info Beam 369 was down and they didn't know when it could be restored. We get work e -mail at our home and are dependent on our service...after complaining and wanting to cancel we still had 6 Months left in our contract. They said we would be in violation on our contract agreement and couldn't cancel service unless there was no service for a Month. Because we have have our own business we cancelled anyway...we were charged after returning the equipment additional money finance charges and sent to a collection agency with-out any billing. I talked to others with Excede there service remained down and no service was restored for over a Month.
Exede has terrible costumer service
We should not been charge for no service
They need to be suede
they take advantage of you and lie to you.
They didn't complete there part of the contract
