ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. This was a bait and switch service. I was never told it was a contract let alone a 24 month contract nor was i told that it was auto pay. I have contacted the supervisors several times now only to find out the installer called me a liar and claimed he read me the terms. Not true.


Slower than dial up; horrible value

I have had this service for 9 months now. The download and upload speeds are horrible. You can not view any movies or videos online nor can you even consider playing an online game. Browsers load painfully slow and often lose connections several times a day. If you call the Exede they will tell you to turn off any wireless devices in your household and use just one device. You can really only use one computer at a time which is horrible compared with Suddenlink that I used to have. If Suddenlink offers service in this area I will definitely switch services and pay the penalty because Exede is really that bad.


Charged for data usage when router is disconnected

I tried giving zero stars but was force to select one.

For the last 3 months, we have reached out GB limit within 5 days of the new cycle. Since we very seldom use the internet we felt this was odd. Each month we call saying it did not seem correct. This month, we actually disconnected our route and shut off our computers. Sure enough, within 4 days, we were told we used 2.5 GB of data. How is this possible when our router is disconnected. Seems like a very dishonest company. The tech rep I spoke to on the phone told me it takes 2.5 GB of data to boot up our Crome Notebook (not sure how she could even say this with a straight face). When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told I was being abusive and she hung up. Really?? We will definitely cancel when the contract is over. In the mean time, ran out and got a hot spot which I hope is more accurate in reporting data usage.


The Worst I've Ever Experienced

This should be a ZERO star rating. In all my years I've never ever seen a worse product, service, company - EVER!

I ordered the 10G "max" package. If you watch movies this won't work for you. Two movies and you've used up you're "allotment". What internet service has a cap on usage? Once you use the 10G you're speed is downgraded.

"Downgraded speed"? Heck the "normal speed" is HORRIBLE! They tell you they're delivering 12M, but try to use it. It's reminds me of 56k speeds. Web pages paint extremely slow.

Speed? If you can get it? Each morning when I work up I had to reboot the modem, reboot my laptops and sometimes they'd come up. Sometimes not.

After a bit more than a week of this HORRID service I tried to find a number to call customer service. I found chat on the website and asked for the number. Why they don't publish it on the website in an easy to find place is obvious - they don't want you to call. I finally got a woman on the phone which was a waste of time. All she did was disagree with me when I said the speeds were too slow. I know what "speedcheck.net" is. It wasn't 12M. She assured me it was. That was a waste of time.

The next morning I woke up, couldn't make it work at all. All the rebooting in the world wouldn't make the modem connect. Frustrated I took the time to really search for the company that owned the cable pedestal at my street... I knew there had to be a better service and I found it! THANKFULLY. So, now I thought I could unwind my contract with Exede since I only had it for a week and that I'd already called and complained about the service.

That's Not Gonna Happen. I called Exede. I explained that the service wasn't meeting my needs. I reminded them that I'd already called and we already had disagreed about the quality of the service. What company disagrees with their customer about quality of service? Anyway, I said I wanted to disconnect but was inquiring about whether they were going to charge me. Shockingly they were! I couldn't believe they were going to charge me the $15/mo for each unused month of the "agreement" (23 months x $15!) or $365!!! Are you serious? You don't deliver the service, disagree with me about the quality, modem doesn't work, and when I want to disconnect it you're going to charge me? The story doesn't end here...

I ended my call with the service representative at that time because I had to run for a meeting so we didn't finalize the "disconnect" When I got home my service had indeed been disconnected. Mind you, I had already paid for the month and they disconnected me without my authorization. Frustrated I called them back and asked that my service be turned back on. More hoops to jump through and then the service agent disconnects me as he's trying to connect me to the activation department! R U serious? Again, I had to run to a meeting but tried again today.

Finally? Not so much.... I got through the activation department today thinking at least I could get the service turned back on for the month I'd already paid for. By then my new service would be installed, I'd pay Exede their $365 early termination fee, and I'd be on my way...but no. It's not over!!! The women tells me that in order to turn it back on I need to sign up for a new 24 month agreement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You simple can not make this story up. I've never seen a more horrible service in all my life.

look, you won't like the service, it's beyond horrible. But if you sign up I warn you, you will like their "service" even less. These people should be out of business.

This was a lesson learned for me. Take my word for it so you don't have to learn this lesson yourself.

I canceled this service last Feb. 15. They refused to give me an address to send their equipment back, so I sent it back on March 4 at my own expense to their address in Boulder. They have continued to bill me and today I got a box to return the equipment over 6 months after my request. I also paid the early cancellation fee in full. I filed complaints with the BBB and the FCC which did not help. I have a stack of emails and 3 snail mail letters to them regarding this matter that they ignored. They kept responding that my ticket was closed. I have had other large companies that have tried to collect money not owed, but six months is a new record. I just want them to leave me alone. They are liars and crooks. Their service was also poor with low download speeds. Avoid this company and do not give them any more business.

This service is worthless. As soon as I walk into the house I have to disconnect my cell phone because the so called internet service blocks my signal. Our laptops cannot be connected either. The tech service is of no help. They have the most rude operators. How can they sleep at night if they're stealing from people?
PLEASE, DON'T SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY!!! They are full of excuse for their sorry service and they will blame you.

I GAVE THEM A STAR BECAUSE THE SYSTEM WON'T LET YOU POST WITHOUT SELECTING A STAR BUT THE RATING IS IN THE NEGATIVE


down hill fast

First 6 months internet was ok but continued to go down hill fast after that. When trying to pay the bill, Customer service could never find our account. At one point insisted we didn't even have one. After almost 2 years, they still don't have our address correct even though I have told them several times. We seem to run out after the first week and forced to keep buying more. Our bill is now running $225 a month for service that doesn't work most of the time. It is incredibly slow and pages struggle to load. Customer service is bad, uncaring and doesn't seem to want to do good by the customer. I would not recommend this company and we are in search for a new company.


Exede "High Speed Internet" Sucks

Absolutely the worst internet connection I have ever used. I could not even run a Ring security camera 20' away from the router. I was told that it was because the wifi signal had to penetrate 2 standard residential walls, the signal was not strong enough. That I needed a better wifi router. I purchased the top of the line extended multi channel router, wifi extender, and the Ring security camera still would not work. After 2 months of frustration and hundreds of dollars later I found out that the problem was That Exede "High Speed Internet" did not have enough speed to support a basic low definition security camera. their solution was to purchase a more expensive (More priority speed) program. Unfortunately I am locked into a 2 year plan. If you need a internet service for more than checking your e-mail don't go with Exede High Speed Internet.


Unfair Charges

I’ve been a long time customer of Wild Blue and then Exede. When we moved, we weren’t told we had to get on the roof of our tall house and remove the satellite receiver arm. We had to borrow the neighbor’s extension ladder and still couldn’t safely receive the part to return. We were charged $165. My husband and I are 66 and we tried to get the receiver arm. I took pictures and sent to Exede. I called them and discussed paying a service man to remove the arm but that was as expensive.


not trustworthy

I have been having major problems with my internet, I have called every day since I became a client. 3 days ago they promised me that a supervisor would call me, I have not received any thing of the such.


1.2 5.0 1231 1231 having seriouse speed issues, complained to company they schedualed a technician to come gave a 3 hour window for the tech to be there, waited the 3 hours then called and they said Exede broadband internet
