ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. Worst service I've ever experienced

I called to cancel my service b/c I was moving. The woman I talked to was helpful (so I thought) by letting me know that I had one month left on my contract and that I should let it ride so I wouldn't have to pay the fee to get out of the contract early. She even gave me the month free (since I was a valued customer and had always paid my account on time.) I gave her my new address where she said I would receive my box to return the modem. (I was not told they would need the device on the actual satellite as well.) She advised I would need to call in on my contract end date to end the contract without paying a cancellation fee.
A month later on the exact date my contact was up, I called in to cancel. Canceling was no problem, but I let the gentleman know that I had still not received the box to return my modem. He checked the system, and my new address was nowhere to be found. I gave them my new address for the 2nd time and was told I would receive the box within 2 weeks. (Again, i was only told to send in the modem, nothing was said about the device on the satellite, which now was on the home I no longer lived in.)
Time goes by, still no box. I then realize $300 has been debited from my account. I called Exede again to inquire about the box since they're charging me for the modem. The gentleman checks for the address it was sent to.... the old address. For the THIRD time I gave my new address to a Representative. I was furious as I was told that it could take up to another 14 days to get the box then would take 10-14 days for them to receive it. The gentleman said once received, my account would be credited. He asked if I took the modem to the new house, I replied yes. For the third time, no one mentioned the device that needed sent back on the satellite.
I received by box 11 days later and to my surprise I had to send in more than just the modem... I don't live in the home the satellite is on anymore... how was I supposed to go get it? Oh but, if Exede went to the home to uninstall the device THEY installed on the roof I would need to pay a ridiculous expensive service charge. So I went back to my old home where the new renter was nice enough to let me climb on the roof and remove the device.
I packaged all my equipment and went to UPS where I got a tracking # so I would know as soon as it was signed for by Exceed. I was originally told my funds would be returned 48hrs after it was received. I called exceed today, two days after it was received and I was told my funds would be credited within 10 days. Irate again since I was told it would be a shorter time-frame I asked her to have a Supervisor escalate. Once she got back on the phone with me, she said it could actually take up to 14 days and there's nothing they can do.
How many people must I talk to? How many times must I get a different answer? My unfortunate lucky number with Excede is 3. Not acceptable.


Worst internet service

I having to give one star only because I will not allow me to leave blank. Stay away from this service.
This is the worst internet service I have ever had. My internet has not been working for over two weeks. I call every night and they tell me that there is "an outage" and there is nothing I can do. I will just have to wait. I understand outages, but every night for two weeks, that seems a little excessive. I have ask to credit my account and usually I am told "sorry, we can't do that". I called last night and was told they outage would last 4 hours. Well, almost 24 hours later it's still out. I called back and they told me that I would need a service call and that would be $95. Now, I wouldn't usually mind paying for a service call, but my service has been out for more that two weeks and I have been paying full monthly amount, I do not feel I should have to pay $95 for you to finally fix it. I should have not have to pay $95 for equipment I am leasing from Exede. They own the equipment.
This internet is awful. I had Hughes Net to begin with and should have never left. When Exede does work, it's slower that dial up. I have ask to cancel, and of course, they will not let me, however, my internet doesn't work.


Horrible

My wife ordered this through direct tv. Our work order was lost in cyberspace. The technician finally showed up 6 hours after he was supposed to. He told us that if we weren't satisfied with the service, we had 30 days to cancel. We used it for roughly two weeks and we were tired of the slow speeds, and the slowing/interrupting of service in anything but sunny weather (with no wind). We called to cancel and were told that we were locked in for two years. We are now paying the $70/ month waiting for the one year mark so we can pay a cheaper early termination fee and not look back.Our contract only guarantees 15mb speed. Some days we get 19, some days 10 to 12.. and for $70!! Never again.


Terrible service-do not waste your money

Service has been weak ever since I installed it. I have an ecommerce website and now i can't even access my website to fulfill customer orders. Tier 2 customer support says the problem is unfixable. Though they will not let me out of my contract unless i pay $195. I am at the point where i will gladly pay the early cancellation fee just to be rid of this headache.

Service goes down.
Call in to get a service technician to come out.
Excede wants $95 to troubleshoot the equipment. That's right....THEY own it, You lease it, YOU also pay to troubleshoot it. YOU pay to replace failed parts. Great racket they have going on.

After reading all the reviews, how do these guys stay in business?!?!?

Not much to say just is horrible services plus they don't care about customers they customers service is the worst ever as a company they need to be trained how to keep customers happy and maintain them. Worst worst......

I am writing this on my phone because my internet is down once again. It is sunny and there is no excuse for it. It happens at least once a day usually in the middle of doing something important. I am stuck for 2 years. Don't become another one of their victims.


Not bundled into Direct TV

Direct TV misled about a bundle. This is a separate entity and separate bill. The price Direct TV gave me was no way near what Exede gives. I never wanted a satellite for Internet. I wasn\'t even home to sign anything. These guys came the same day as Direct TV upgrade to my equipment boxes and the neighbor thought Exede was Direct TV. I called customer service and they had no souls. I emailed ViaSat and they kept me sending me replied emails statement the issue was resolved. I am fighting this


WORST EVER! CS is even worse!

Early morning and about 7:00 I either have no service or possibly 2 or less vs the 18 Mbs I was sold. I've complained multiple times for yrs and even started recording my speed tests to prove how unreliable my service was. I finally got a good CS rep who witnessed the svs drop to 1.59 mbps, then to .34. After ckg he said it was the throughput on their end and escalated. The 2nd tier lady was absolutely hateful to deal with and said the 1st rep didn't know what they were talking about. She said I had to expect line congestion in evening prime time! REALLY!!! I'm no longer tied by my 2 yr contract and I'm dumping them and their rude CS reps ASAP!


Don't bother

We purchased Exede because it was touted as super fast internet in our rural area. It was generally fast for about 3 days each month until our 10 GB of data magically disappeared. After that they put you on their slow plan and you are lucky if you can even connect must less check your emails. Don't even try to use it in the evenings because there are so many people using it that you can't do anything. Exede customer service is unresponsive. Be careful if you move within the 24 month contract because you will have to pay to reconnect at new address and start a new 24 month contract. I would not recommend this to anyone unless you want to be eternally frustrated.
