ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. My best advice for anyone wanting satellite internet is to run, run away as fast as you can from Excede. I have tried all of the data usage tips, called several times to customer service. I pay for a service that I cannot even use because for some reason my data use is always 100% and the internet is so slow. Excede enjoys taking my payment each month, but gives back nothing in return except excuse after excuse and its never their fault. I cannot wait for our contract to be up so I can rip the dish off my roof and get rid of it. Starting from day one with the install, I have had nothing but bad luck and poor service. I would be better off with dial up. We have had to get a bigger data plan and use our smart phones and tablets for internet business because we can no longer use our computer. Even with the computer turned off, Wi-Fi turned off our data usage is gone within a week of starting the billing period. Customer service then advices me to buy more data. For what? So I can send them more money for a service that will not work. Another customer service suggestion is to use the internet during the "free hours". What is that, midnight to 5am? I'm sorry, some of us work for a living and use that time to sleep. If I am up at that time it is probably because I have taken another job to pay for service I cannot use. If you think I sound frustrated, sign up for Excede and you'll feel my pain.

I\'m always over useage with nothing connected. I disconnected everything and was over the data cap in 4 days! After my billing cycle the speeds are horrible and when it is over the cap limits it is completely useless! Do not get this service! I hope someone files a class action suit against these people I\'m signing up! They only got one star because you are forced to click 1. I would have given them zero!


You need to know, unbelievable

When you cancel your service you will have to go on your roof with a screw driver and unscrew something off the dish and mail it back to them or you will have to pay them 150.00. When I was shocked that they expected me to go on the roof to get the piece off I was told I could find someone else to do it or I could pay 100.00 for their guy to do it. Then their guy will give it to me to mail. I lived in the middle of nowhere for 12 years and over that time I have used several different satellite companies. Not once have I ever been expected to go on the roof to get a piece off. Once a company sent their guy to get the stuff and he took it with him. So when you are finally sick and tired of this company they will boot you one more time on the way out.


Fraud!!! Don't use them!

Sales person told me it would work in my area which it rarely did. I sell real estate which I explained to the sales person. Of course I was told it would work without problems. I tried to cancel within 2 weeks but had to pay 398. To be released from the contract, even though it never worked. I paid it because I just wanted out. They double charged the 397. And it took numerous attempts with 1 hour holds on the phone before I finally got the credit for the double charge. I sent all equipment back the day I received the box and return label. I sent everything back and now they say equipment is missing and want me to give them 168. or they will turn it over to collection. I have owned a business for thirty years and never dealt with a more fraudulent company. The deceptive trade practice is unbelievable. Save yourself grief and run from this company. We have an attorney on staff that is going to help me and hopefully others in the process.


Worst Internet Ever

Excede internet is hands down the worst internet service I have ever encountered. After having internet through Verizon, Comcast and several other local providers through the years, Exede internet through ViaSat is horrendous. I’ve never written on online review before so this will be a first. We have cable through DirectTV and signed up with Exede 2 months ago because of the bundling package discount. When discussing plan options with the sales agent, he had asked what we used our internet for. Aside from a very modest amount of internet browsing/email use, my wife and I said we typically watch an hour or so of netflix each night after work. We also use Pandora and Facetime every so often. Without any hesitation the agent happily told me that he had a plan that would easily suit our needs. At no point did he mention that this plan would have a monthly 10GB bandwidth cap limit! So with an HD TV, that equates to about 3-4 hours of netflix streaming and you’re already at your limit. And what happens after you reach your cap limit, they slow down your speed so you can’t stream any movies or shows on your tv, youtube, etc until the next billing cycle. Low and behold to my surprise after just 5 days we are already at our 10GB limit and no longer able to do anything outside of web browsing for the next 3 weeks. This has to be the most misleading sales agreement I’ve ever encountered. We pay $50/month for this plan. The next plan upgrade is a whopping $100/month for a meager 18GB limit. That’s ludicrous considering other service providers offer upwards of 300GB limits or unlimited bandwidth for what I’m paying now. Exede internet was more than happy to tell me about how great their download speeds were and lock me into a 24-month contract but didn’t want to tell me any of these details. Another important point the sales agent could have mentioned is that satellite internet goes out anytime it rains or snows. So during bad weather, when you’d want to be able to watch movies or get work done inside, you can’t because your internet is down. I never would have agreed to sign up for such an overpriced, unreliable, and inferior provider had I known these things. The words deceptive and misleading can’t be overstated. And, unlike other companies that will typically offer a 30-day no obligation trial before you commit, Exede charges you $15/month for all remaining months to terminate your 2-year contract early. ($300 in our case since we just signed up). I tried contacting customer service who were very quick to tell me that’d I’d be responsbile for the early termination fee in full. I couldn’t believe they wouldn’t even offer to cut the termination fee in half. It’s not like I’m looking for a refund to get my money back, I just want to switch providers without getting penalized for realizing how crappy this company really is. After reading countless other reviews, it seem as though many people have expressed similar displeasure. However, some stated they were able to cancel their service and get their early termination fee waived. I’m wondering why this was not offered in my case. I won’t be recommending Exede internet to anyone anytime soon.

I had Exede installed in September and switched to Iphones and Ipads in December long story short they do not work with Exede. I have spent at least 8 hours on the phone with Verizon, Apple and Exede. As of tonight they told me the service is working right and it is $15 a month to get out of the contract. I told them it is their signal as I have Windstream running in the house now and it loads fine.We cant help it it doesnt work on your wireless devices and the will not even budge on the disconecct fees. So i guess for now I am stuck with service that they can not make compatible to Apple. IF YOU HAVE APPLE DO NOT USE EXEDE!!

Negative stars!! Great sales pitch. No real customer service. Not working properly. No notices of new charges. I have been without service for over a week waited all week for tech to come. Given 3 different #'s to call for Me to get someone to come. Supposedly coming next week. $15 month fee till Nov 2017 to cancel. Hope this co. gets sued!


Don't do it!

Customer service simply tells you what you want to hear and does not follow through. When they say they will "Submit a trouble ticket" that is the kiss of death. Don't expect any action when told that.
My service IS fast, however, I fly through my gigs in days, without ever playing a video. I simply use facebook, email, and pay my bills. 5 days in I've used half my data already. Something is wrong with their data calculations. Excede or Hughes are my only options for internet so that I can facetime with my son whom is severely autistic and in a residential school 6 hours away. I'm at their mercy. If it weren't for that... no way would I continue with their service.


Worst Customer Service Ever

This is the worst company I have ever done business with. The customer service reps are unwilling to address problem. After many calls, long hold times and a "resolution" I called back after seeing an unauthorized charge to my bank account. I was told there was no record of ANY of the calls I had previously made. My account was/ is current. I wasn't looking for payment arrangements. I just wanted someone to explain the unauthorized charges. This is the ONLY service available in my area or I would have paid my "termination fee" long ago. Avoid this company if you possibly can.

Terrible, Awful, Horrific, despicable, Company
Every month your internet usuage is over the limit within 1 week. Complained till blue in the face. Always blame me. Went out of town with internet computer and power off . received email that I was over my limit again. Not even home. Absolutley a scam they can say you're over whenever they want but don't fear they will sell you more data. Who is regulating this!!! How can you download 15gb of data in 1 week when the computer isn't even turned on?? Stay Away Stay Away
