ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

poor service

It's 2015 no excuses any more for poor slow internet service. we call all they ever say is to pay more. we pay 100.00 a month still not enough yet the speed never gets any quick, the bill only gets higher because we always use up our usage.

Exede is so slow it is unuseable. I never put in my VOIP and was told I would only get charged if I did. I returned it within 2 days, and they continue to charge me for the service. They \"Claim\" they will refund me, but they said that the last 3 times I called. Now they refuse to refund me the taxes and fees even though they should never have put it on my credit card.

The salesperson on the phone guaranteed that I would have ample service what a joke. After one day my time was used up. I didn\'t use it for much YouTube and Facebook. What they don\'t tell us if you use the on demand service it sucks you dry. I used Dish for over 10 years and never had any problems with their on demand using my internet service up. I increased my service to their top GB and have to check my usage daily. What a hassle. I want to cancel this rip off service but it\'s cost $300. I have no better service than I had with Dish. Shame on you for taking advantage of people especially if they are on a fixed income.


poor service& tech support

At first i was told it was fast enough to get online and game,not! Then when i called and asked if there was a way to check the signal strength, i was told i was allowed 10 gigs. I informed the tech that was my data useage limit. My cell phone with 3 bars of 3g is 20 times faster than the horrible service i pay for. I did not want to leave a star because noone has ever come to check the signal or dish direction after several calls, but you have to leave atleast 1.


Worst Internet Ever

Ever heard of overcommit and under deliver? That is Exede in a nutshell. We recently left cable TV as we were looking for something less expensive. We soon found out this was not the answer.

The technician showed up over an hour late. Appointment window was until noon and he should up at 1:30pm we had to call him and ask where he was. He did not have all of his materials so two other technicians showed up at my house to help him (3 in total). It also took them almost 3 hours to install the GIGANTIC satellite!

We were promised “unlimited” internet for $40 a month. And the technician reassured me that it was one of the fastest in the area.

Within two days we called to complain about the slow service. At that time the customer service lady informed us that we had already gone over our 5 GB. When question about our “unlimited” internet we were told they do not offer such service. We had to up our GB to 15 to prevent us from going over making our bill $77 plus tax totaling $87.10!

As our service continued to be slow we called again to complain within the first week, then being told we needed to close the apps on our phones each time we exited them. After no improvement we asked to cancel, and were informed that the cancelation fee was going to be $345. We didn’t even have our internet for 2 weeks and used over 10GB, only using our iPhones. We did not steam Netflix or turn on our laptop.

Exede was truly the worst internet experience I have ever had. They over sold their product and I would never recommend it anyone.


Data Allowance is tricky

I moved from dial-up, nothing else was available other than Satellite Internet. The install went fine, service techs were friendly, and everything seemed to work well, but the first month I ran out of data allowance. I didn't realize how much things like Netflix use, and my iPhone upgraded itself and used a few GB!

Since then I've learned how to make sure my devices don't use my allowance (Disable automatic upgrades folks!) and I found a service called NightShift (https://www.aterlo.com) that lets me use my late night free zone to get Netflix shows which I can then watch whenever I want.

I probably wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has an option with unlimited usage, but for those of us with no alternative it can work well if you put a bit of effort into it.

after only 3 days my data is used up. keep in mind that the first day and a half was spent on the phone with techs trying to get the service set up properly (phone, no internet, internet, no phone) drove me crazy! going back to my old provider first thing in the morning. will happily pay ECF just to get my sanity back. gave them 1 star only because there was no zero to click on.I


Dreadful service.

This company claims I used 5gb of data when my modem was switched off and I was snowboarding in Florida. Called it a glitch. This glitch has been happening ever since I had the system. Paying the early termination before being ripped off anymore. They call themselves paperless which means they put nothing in writing and executives does no reply to complaints. Before buying this service please check the other reviews. They are dreadful. I have a complaint with the FCC. I do not trust Exede in any shape or form.


Bad speeds

I previously had Hughes Net which was not very good, as well as the Verizon hot spot which was average speed, but you don't get much data usage with it. So I changed to Exede because it advertised really good speed and a lot more data usage. However, I have not even once since it was installed, got anything close to the speed that was advertised. It is slow and kicks me off all of the time. They told me they would not over sell their product so they could guarantee the higher speed. When I called to complain about the speed I was told they couldn't run a diagnostic because the line I was on was too congested. Well, no kidding, that's why I am getting slow speeds..... In other words they over sold their product. This is absolutely the worst internet since the dial up!


No service

Our service worked fine for the first 3 months and then our modem just stopped working. We have been without service for 3 months now and they still haven't sent us a new modem or came to our house to fix it. We have been on the phone with them countless times and e-mailed too. The same story "We are so sorry for your inconvenience and we will fix it immediately." Nothing is happening and we are trying to get out of our contract but that is hard to do. At least they put a hold on our credit card...
