WORST INTERNET EVER!!!!

Nov 17, 2015 by Bob

WORST INTERNET I'VE EVER USED IN MY WHOLE LIFE! I ONLY RATED IT 1 STAR BECAUSE IT MADE ME GIVE A RATING!

Held Hostage by Hughes Net Gen 4

Using this service is so frustrating. It is so slow and I constantly have to wait for my internet connection. The message "Page cannot be displayed", well this is a regular occurance. I want to leave this service but the charge is prohibitive. They have you by the throat and you can't get out of it. Now I have to wait until December 2016 to get out of
this bondage. The only way they can make any money without losing their customers is to tie them up for 2 years. What a sin!

I would not recommend it to anyone , I have been with hughes.net for years and tried my son's service which is with Century Link using my computer which was instant , could watch video's , use search pages & his service never uses his data and I was supposed to have upgraded to Gen 4 thinking I would have much better service, WRONG I told the guy the day he upgraded me that it seemed to be slower than what I had and he was like really , I used to leave my computer on all day and no problem but sense I switched to Gen 4 my data is used up in just a few days and it happens when no one is even on the computer usually when we are sleep so if you are thinking of going with HUGHES.NET RUN THE OTHER WAY , THIS IS SLOWER THAN A 99 YEAR OLD TRYING TO POOP

Run Run Away

The first 18 months was great - really as advertised. About 4 months ago our 10gb would mysteriously vanish. I called and they said I had used it but using their tools the report states it happen in the middle of the night when we slept. They kindly gave me more data and told me to unplug my router to check - result my router was \"leaking\" data - never heard that one. Purchased a new top of line linksys and all went ok for a few weeks then again all my data disappeared 10gb overnight again ? I called an electrician ran new lines and purchased an additional virus software nothing found but again it happen. They now say it\'s my computer however we were blessed with my wife receiving a new computer - so I put antivirus software on it hooked it straight in to their modem bypassing my router and yes it happened again 10.9gb gone overnight. I suspect it did auto updates vs Windows but not 10.9gb. I will run a report on that tonight but with only 2 months to go on contract I don\'t see keeping this one. PS they refused to send a new modem or a technical person to truly investigate. I\'m pretty much done with these folks.

Good News!

Good News! Hughesnet is dead, or soon will be if they don't improve their service and data plans. Verizon cell phone service announced today they will offer a 4G plan which will include 18 gigs of data for about five dollars per month more than we are currently paying for 2 gigs of metered data.

Verizon is caving to the competition presented by T Mobil and Sprint for data plans. My wife's smart phone works as a hot spot for wifi through Verizon. I use it now when I need to download something quickly knowing Hughesnet downloads are similar to watching paint dry. Unfortunately, the 2 gig monthly limit has limited my usage of the Verizon wifi in the past. Verizons speed has always been great and remains constant even when storm clouds block the Hughesnet dish.

In the past, I've tested the Verizon and Hughesnet data usage rates by downloading the same file over both. Hughesnet eats data twice as fast as Verizon when downloading the same file. 18 gigs of data on Verizon should last twice as long as Hughesnet.

I've been told Verizon has horrible customer service for their cable, landline, and bundled internet services. We have always experienced very good service with their cell phone plans.

Horrible Hughesnet

Nov 04, 2015 by Jose Carrugas

They said 10 gigs of data was plenty to watch youtube videos, listen to music, and watch online movies all month. They were simply lying. 10 gigs lasts about 10 days with that kind of usage and extra data units is ridiculously expensive to add to your plan.

The G4 stuff doesn't mean anything. Possibly one day per week, the download rate is similar to DSL. The remaining six days per week are slower than dialup. Many days, the connection is so slow; my browser simply quits trying and reports "unable to connect".

I will have normal internet service connected next week. I will keep hughesnet and use it for non essential internet service until my contract expires.

Save your money and your sanity. Do not subscribe to Hughesnet.

Long story short, I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life with Hughesnet. After buying the fastest Internet service with 15 megabytes down and 2 megabytes up, from the get go it was less than 1 down and 1 up. So after a dozen phone calls to customer service and multiple frustrating experiences, none of which helped, I decided to cancel. When I called to cancel they talked me out of it, saying that a level 4 engineer would call me at exactly 6:00 on a certain evening (last evening). He never called. I sat with my phone in my hand and he never called. Of course, they didn\'t give me his number. Today I called Hughesnet and reported that the level 4 engineer never called, they put me on hold and came back 15 minutes later and told me they called me last night but I did not answer. They argued with me, essentially calling me a liar. I really am tired of talking to people who barely speak English, keep reading a stupid script, and will not get the Internet speed fixed. About 2 weeks later it is still less than 1 down and 1 up. Today, I expressed my frustration and explained, which was absolutely justified, and the customer service person hung up on me. I called back to cancel, and they wanted to go through many questions with me to \"talk me into not cancelling.\" I\'ve never seen so much incompetence, rudeness, horrible customer service, and what is essentially misrepresentations with the inducement of getting me to sign up and pay. I would discourage anyone from ever using Hughesnet. I\'ve never seen anything like this before.

Just get dial up it would be less painful and save you money. Seriously. Worst internet I have had in 20 years.

Well, my first clue was the day it was installed. The installer confessed he used DSL because it was faster. He was right. When I finally got fed up yesterday and called to cancel, they asked if there was anything that would change my mind. Yes. Make it twice as fast and half as expensive. Doubt that will be happening. My cell hotspot works better, no buffering, either.

Worst service I have ever seen. It has not worked half the time we have had it. We have to call them almost on a weekly basis. Do not uses Hughes Net you will be like us and regret it every time you need to get on the Internet.

1.1 5.0 418 418 Was with Hughesnet for a total of 5 years. First 2 years by contract. Last 3, month to month. When I cancelled the service to go to Starlink, they were unwilling to prorate the Hughesnet Gen4 Satellite Internet
