Hughesnet (Gen4)

Huges Network is awful. The wifi doesn't even work, or it's slow as ever AND I can't cancel it unless I pay 300 dollars. Do not get this

First off they will promise you ANYTHING to get you to sign that contract. Very slow and gets used up very fast. I would only recommend if you never plan to stream video(netflix, ect.) or download anything at all. Like anything, seriously. Causal web browsing is all you can do without getting frustrated. I have had to purchase extra internet from verizon to make up for where hughesnet fails which is now an extra $50. I only wish I had read reviews before purchasing.

Horribly slow speed. Dialup is faster. When I was looking to sign up, they talked about using Netflix and other streaming services and how often I would do it. I can't download or stream a movie at all and can't even watch YouTube most of the time. Takes 10-15 minutes to download a single song from iTunes. I don't trust their recording of usage at all. I exceeded my monthly allowance in 10-15 days simply surfing and not downloading. This is a terrible company with terrible customer service and with a terrible product. They probably make their major revenue from people breaking contracts to leave them than from users.

They will tell you (after you buy a 2-year contract) that it is not advised to play video with this service as it is very slow. If you like the word \"buffering\" you will like Hughesnet. Absolutely sucks. I had to buy a verizon broadband unit just to get the internet at all. So basically I have 2 years of Hugesnet and will not use it at all.

I was totally mislead by the phone rep, mainly stating that I get 55 MGB per month, did not tell me that I get only 5 MGB during peak hours. And the streaming and downloading is absurd. I had Excede before and I though that was bad??? This is the worst piece of .... that I ever have bought over the phone. Live and learn...that said when ATT and Verizon come out here they are out of here.

They will lie to you and tell you what you want to hear to get you to sign up with them. They bragg about being the fastest with 15 MBps speed, this is a joke as well. Currently looking for a new provider so I can tear their crap off my roof. Can't wait. Also I had to give them 1 star to make this work, but they are not worth that.

We got this last June 2014 and after 4 months (October) is not working anymore due to a heavy rain and windy. We decide to cancel it but the customer said we need to pay $400 cause of the 2yrs.contract or they can send someone to fix it. We live in Hot Springs Arkansas on that time and move here in Tulsa Ok.last November 4, 2014. We ask and please them if is there anyway that we can cancel it without paying $400 they said NO so we decided that they should fix it in that way our Aunt can use the internet in Hot Springs while were paying it monthly there response is we can't fix it if the owner of the house is not there. What a st**** they got our money every month even we did not use their damn and broken service. It's been 7 months by now were still paying it and they still not fixing it. Worst internet ever....

If you are considering HughesNet Satellite Internet, DO NOT MAKE THE SWITCH! The service is slow and unreliable. I haven't had this much trouble since dialup. When our service went out completely, customer service would sent out someone in SIX DAYS. Or wait, it could be in two days for $30, then the repair person called and couldn't come when scheduled, but would come in four days for $30. We are stuck with a two year contract and regret it.

Hughes net is the worst internet I have EVER had. I can't do anything. not only is it slow but it constantly cuts on and off. they also told me I would have 20 GB a month but I get 10 a month and the other 10 is only from 2 am - 7 am when I am NEVER on it! I hate this internet and as soon as I can I will get away from it. I do not recommend it.

Right in the middle of anything, internet is up and down. Constant pauses.
