Seriously?

Dec 09, 2015 by Michelle

I have no idea how to rate the way I need to. Perhaps you should rate first the service and then the CSR's department.

1. Service: I have the TV and that's it. The images are always crisp, however, the audio/video is out of sync and has to be turned off and back on to get it on point.
2. CSR: NOPE! Customer service means you'd get assistance with a problem. All I've ever received from calling their 866.974.0781 number is a menial discount that's meant to be nice, but comes off very petty and cheap and insulting.
3. Contract: ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Who in their right damned mind would STILL be signing a contract for TV services? Seriously? This is the 21st century... you might want to catch up! Not even wireless service is based on contracts anymore!

You get 2 stars. 1 for the level of CSR and 1 for the only thing I have signed up for in Dish's plethora of services.

Not that bad

Dec 05, 2015 by Bob

I find it interesting so many people hate Dish. Because I live in the country my only two choices are either Dish or Direct TV, had both. My connection has remained running even during rain storms. It will cut out though if the rain gets really bad, but I had the same problem when I lived in town and had a cable connection. It is important to check your line of site. Friend of mine complained constantly about Dish. When I checked his setup I find he was trying receive through a group of trees. I suggested moving it. Setup in another location and now it works better.

I will say this NEVER EVER BUNDLE with anyone. It is a rip off you and will not save any money

sucks

Dish never again

Nov 27, 2015 by trilby mcgee

Lock in a price...you better because I signed up for two years and after the first year my service price doubled. So I had to change my package and lost a lot of channels. Then they yanked one of my fav channels without warning...literally was watching and then it was gone. Stating I needed to upgrade. So now that my contract was up a few months back and canceling they inform me that it will cost me 10 dollars per box to return my equipment. I asked why were they charging me when they gave me no other options like a drop off CS just stated that the fee is better now. It use to be 17. Really? Thats your response. Sigh. Never again...fool me once...

even when something bad happens they won't let you out of your contract

Even when something bad happens and you lose your home and cannot have DISH at the apartment you move to they will absolutely never waive the contract. Zero customer service.

Declined greatly over the years

Nov 12, 2015 by Heather

My family has been using Dish for over 7 years, and I used to pick dish over Direct TV any day! After my recent experience with cancelling my account and bringing my dad’s account off suspension, I have now changed my opinion. I have Direct TV at my new house, due to the boyfriend’s opinion, but Direct TV has been wonderful compared to this crap. Here is my story: #1 and 2: I called Dish, I got India. Ugh…coming from a corporate environment, I understand its cheap labor and they can service 24 hours, but I hate these sales people that have to read off a script. This was one of the perks years ago when I went with Dish. When adding, OR CANCELLING, service I spoke with an American person whom I can understood when speaking to me. Anyway, I asked to cancel my account, and they ask you 5 different ways why you’re cancelling, then they assume I want to transfer service, and they still try to sell me service. I get that they are doing their job, but it’s pretty desperate if you’re twisting my words around on why I’m cancelling my service. #3 When bringing my dad’s account back active from suspension, (to clarify he put his account on suspension so I could run my account out of contract, due to the not-so-free IPad I received when starting back up with them), they first tried to charge me a $60 prorated fee. I asked what they are prorating, and she couldn’t answer my question, so she took the charge off. I honestly was just trying to figure out what this illegitimate charge was. Then she was offering me an $8.00 protection fee, I asked her what that covered, assuming it was for the equipment. Nope, it was to waive the $95 charge for the installer to come out and the $15 shipping fee….REALLY? So I asked her one more time, if it covers the equipment, she couldn’t answer me. Hmmm….. so she waived that fee. Before doing so, I was on the phone for 10 minutes trying to ask for a legitimate answer for this, and she then attempted to insult me by saying I was confused and we needed to move forward with the ticket. She didn’t get away that easily, I told her that selling something means you have to make it believable and this was not a legitimate charge. Lastly #4: You’re purchased equipment. Pay close attention to this guys! You pay for 2 years of your equipment and then it’s YOURS! You OWN it! I happened to look at my equipment breakdown on my account, and saw that one of my 2 Joey’s was purchased. So I knew I didn’t have to send one back. But I was curious about the other Joey since I had them around the same time. I looked and saw one Joey was activated on 8/20/13 and the other on 10/11/13, guess which one says purchased??? The 10/11/13. How does that make sense? It doesn’t, I questioned them on it, and they were pretty reluctant to tell me what was true. Finally after the cancellation was set up, I asked them about it again, and they finally said both of my Joey’s were paid for. Thank you Dish for confirming something I already knew, but you thought you would get more money and paid for equipment back from me. Guys, just purchase your equipment from ebay and get this part over with.
VERY DISSAPPOINTING that Dish stooped to this level. Being so conniving to get so much money from their CURRENT customers. I don’t want to say don’t go with Dish, because every service provider, satellite or cell phones, have their ways of trying to get money from people. Just don’t be afraid to ask questions!!! Lessons I have learned over these last few years with HIDDEN charges all over the place. READ and UNDERSTAND what you agree to. Hope this was helpful and good luck!

Miserable service

Nov 06, 2015 by jody

How does a service this horrible continue on? Worst costumer service. Unable to understand the employee, get off the phone and I wonder what just happened. Price keeps going up. Loss of signal with the slightest of bad weather. It records programs we never watch which messes with the programs we do want to record. Watch a recorded program and a message pops up in the middle of show saying this program was not able to record the entire program. Even cancelling DISH to discontinue service is complicated. Telling me we haven\'t had dish for 2 years (it\'s been over 2 years) and we will added fees. This is not a honest business. It hard to understand how they can continue to be in business, they really need to be investigated. Very rude employees.

My parents who are on a fixed income, were lied to by a sales person from dish. They were told that if they were to bundle their TV,Internet ,and phone service the cost would be 120.00. The sales person didn't mention that the phone service had added fee and taxes. Their first month was 120.00 next was 150.00 and every month it has been a different amount. When I called dish to complain the women on the phone said that everyone has to pay the fees and service charges for having a land phone line. I asked her why the sale person wasnt honest about the total cost and her response was that my parent should have known better. We tired to cancel their phone and Dish canceled
their internet and charge them a disconnect fee for a total bill of 285.00. Dish used the old bait and switch move that they say direct TV does in their TV ads. As sonon as our contracts are up our whole family will be leaving dish (four different households). Shame on Dish for treating older Americans this way

The Worst Customer Service Ever

Oct 27, 2015 by Earl Evans

I had Directv for 15 years, figured it was time for a change so I got hooked line and sunk on Dishnetwork's 2 year price lock, the first time I called lady was rude, and thought $50.00 upfront activation fee was strange, but did it anyway, guy shows up on time installs so I thought maybe it wont be that bad. Well all first week I didn't get much of a singnal, so a week later decided to call see if we can do anything. Lady was so rude I ended up punching my phone in a rage, all I asked for was tech help she said I can have someone there in 10 days, I said wow that's long, can I get credit for days I don't have service she said no we don't give money back, then I made comment if you don't like it go back to directv I said i'd love to will you let me out of early termination fee back, she said nope, I said I am calling my attorney about you ppl, she hung up. Few minutes later I get an e-mail I cancelled my service, I said WTF so I call find out my account has a 480 termination fee on it, I said I didn't cancel, guy says yes you did I see my notes you either have to pay 480 to leave it off or pay 50 for reactivation fee, I said sir I paid 50 for activation, 64.99 the day after install cause you sent me a bill I am not giving one more penny, long story short he turned it on, and no fee. I check my account says 85 for month I called guy says you cancelled you need to pay for another month, I said #1 my bill is suppose to be 64.99 for 2 year price lock, #2 I paid 114.99 for 7 days of service, he says you cancelled you lost price lock, since it was reactivated you have to pay for another month. I am like WTF, filed with consumer affairs BBB ECT. A lady calls says I am right she is making it right Well now I find out bill is 67.99 for 1 year, then goes up, well I'll be cancelling before then paying the fee it will be cheaper. Moral of story do not deal with dishnetwork they are the worst ever!

Disgraceful

Oct 23, 2015 by Richard Scott

I\'m writing this for my sister Bobbi she retired to N.C. 2 years ago w systemic disease. Wanting to try dish she connected and all was well. In 2014 there was an ice storm that did damage to her mobile home and her landlord relocated her across town. Not what she needed or wanted but dish advertising FREE MOVING. well that didn\'t include her she hadn\'t been connected a year. Really?? Her home destroyed and they knew this and nothing but IM SO SORRY TO HEAR THAT. She was charged $100 fee. Many logged in issues but she always paid bill.in August she was diagnosed with an condition that needed immediate surgery and 8 weeks rehabilitate. Not wanting to continue with service her chances of ambulating was not good to many stairs I personally called dish to explain situation and got a GABBY SERVICE REP. WHO TRIED TALKING ME INTO KEEPING SERVICE AT A DISCOUNT UNTIL MY SISTER IS RELEASED.???? I explained again to send return box and Bill. Also telling the two. That $118 couldn\'t be paid immediately due to a battle w insurance not wanting to pay full rehabilitation but we would prevail and she would pay.I\'M SORRY YOUR PATHETIC COMPANY THINKS $118 IS MORE NEEDED IN YOUR POCKETS THAN INTO MY SISTERS FULL REHABILITATION.NOT EVEN TWO MONTHS INTO DEFAULT THEY REFERRED HER TO COLLECTIONS??? REALLY DISH I CAN SEE IF THERE WAS NO CONTACT OR EXPLANATION BUT TO CALL HER PHONE CONSTANTLY AND TRY TO COLLECT FROM A WOMAN ON DISABILITY.. I WILL NEVER USE YOUR SERVICES AND GONNA HOUND YOU LIKE YOU DID MY SISTER.BY THE WAY SHE\'S IN A WHEELCHAIR NOW AND IN DEBT. TO HOSPITAL BUT WE\'LL GET THAT BACK AFTER APPEAL.THANKS FOR YOUR CRAPPY SERVICE
