HughesNet is bad

Was with Hughesnet for a total of 5 years. First 2 years by contract. Last 3, month to month. When I cancelled the service to go to Starlink, they were unwilling to prorate the bill and just charge me the difference to the cancel date. This is a horrible company to deal with all the way around. Connection is very slow, data limits are very low for the cost. extra charges on the bill, and unreasonable to prorate the final bill.

Terrible service and support!

Absolutely the worst service and support of any service provider I have ever used in my lifetime. Dial up internet is faster than this service and most likely would be more reliable. I have been trying to cancel the service and return the equipment however have faced numerous obstacles when calling to cancel it. I am so frustrated and now angry i am going to file a BBB compliant and as many online complaints in hopes to help others avoid the fleecing, I have received from this dishonest service provider.

Email manipulation

Hughes actively blocks use of email clients - they offer absolutely no support (e.g., server settings) for use of any email client to retrieve your emails. i suspect they do this to force you to use their webmail site. in order to access it you must first get through their obviously politically slanted "news" page. This problem exists across the spectrum of email clients. The worse the current news is for the left/Dems, the more unreliable 3rd party clients become - the problem is always at the hughesnet server end.

Horrible internet and horrible customer service

Our account says gen 5. Very poor internet. We knew satellite would be slow, but we can't even make a phone call when our phones are connected to the wifi. Programs buffer forever and are then blurry making it incredibly frustrating to try to watch a show. I thought it was our only option because of our location, but spoke with a neighbor who told us about another provider that is way better. I called to cancel and was told we are obligated for another 18 months and I asked if there was any obligation for them to provide adequate internet and he said no. I looked at the contract, which is very long, and it pretty much says customers are locked in, but Hughes Net can cancel for any or no reason at any time without notice. Shame on me for not reading the contract more carefully. UGH!

not willing to work with me.

had to go to hughs when dishnet dropped their internet.

Had to put dish on next property (with permission). Owner finally sold property. Had to remove dish. Am still being billed each month for service I no longer have. Lost service through no fault of my own. Talked to hughs who pretty much said tough luck no our problem.

Their Error

I canceled at the beginning of the month. I was told no further payment due, we'll send you a box for equipment. No box comes in the mail and im charged the regular monthly fee. So I call again.."I'm sorry ma'am, this cancelation was started but not finished and we will be holding your refund until you send us our equipment". So, while I'm explaining to customer service rep how rediculous that is and asking why they feel they have the right to hold my money hostage because of their mistake the rep gets really rude, I ended the call by hanging up on the rep. I do not recommend Hughes Net to anyone.

BuhBye HughesNet

HughesNet (Gen 4 or otherwise) is a total waste of time and money. Luckily, Starlink is now taking pre-orders for much faster, better internet service. Maybe with the vast majority of HughesNet customers migrating to Starlink, they'll (HughesNet) get their $#!+ together and offer a decent service to those few remaining customers, otherwise, less than 5 years from now HughesNet will cease to exist.

Hughes doesn't keep its word

Ever since I started with Hughes I get dropped calls my run out of data by day two constantly have delays trying to watch anything have to wait for anything to load up and when it does load up it pauses constantly not worth it and to make things worse when their equipment is faulty they charge you $129 to come replace it they don't have a drop-off area or place you can directly take it to yourself and during covid-19 it was impossible the technician came out simply unplugged the old unit plugged a new one out and left that is not worth $129 do not use this company they are a rip off and you definitely cannot watch anything during the thunderstorm or cloudy day... It is also a loctite to your contract and if in the beginning of your contract you decide to change your contract they extend it out more so you're paying for more than 2 years don't do it.

I cannot wait till the end of my contract.
