ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

slower and slower

Sep 24, 2015 by V. Harris

First, none of us would have this service if we had an alternative. The only advantage they may claim is being better than dial-up. In today’s world it is very slow, expensive, and unreliable. Maybe with this technology they can’t do much about the price or reliability, but advertising average speeds of 12mps is a flat out lie. My average is 4.1mbs. (Justnow is .87kbs) www.testmy.net reports the overall average of their service to be around 8mbs. Considering how slow the downloads are, it’s odd how easy it is to excede your limit. Their service goes down often enough that I’ve suggested they put an on/off switch on the front of the modem.

Just checked my speed and I'm getting a whopping 0.45 mbps and I'm suppose to be getting 12. When I first signed up in January I was getting around 18! Booyah! Right? That didn't last long, for whatever reason, and the internet has been slow as can be for most of the time I've had the service. Hey, did talk to a pretty cool girl in customer service, though. Oh, have "exeded" the monthly allotment several times from my kids leaving an internet browser on overnight. My fault? Yeah, but damnnnnnnnn.....

Data cap frustrations and poor service

Sep 21, 2015 by michael

Excede caps your data limit to 10 gigs a month, so if you plan to use this for business, or to entertain kids, or school work it is absolutely worthless. I reach my data limit in a matter of hours, when my kids are here. After the limit is reached the Internet is virtually non existent. And the unlimited data in the evening is also so slow, you can not do anything with it. The impact of not having fast Internet is huge, on my business. I have to constantly use my cell phone carrier's hot spot to do anything of importance. DO NOT GET THIS COMPANY'S SERVICE! Oh, and additional to the early termination fee, you can count on having to take down the satellite yourself, and shipping the modem, receiver, and wiring back on your own dime.

awful experience service and download speeds

Sep 21, 2015 by James Weldon

I tried for a month to get reasonable speeds. 8+ hours on the phone with them many level 2 calls. No improvement. Also I had to restart the modem over and over again. Level 2 supervisor even refused to send a tech out. Finally canceled service and rep said "early termination fee would be 1/2. After all of that still charged the FULL $405 disconnect fee and then another (unauthorized) for $100 a month later even when I returned equipment as requested . Moved to Hughsnet and guess what...great speeds no problams at all form day one. Confidentially I was told Exede had oversold bandwidth and many many at least in my area had similar problems. I am disputing through credit card company and will file small claims (apparently there is a clause in contract that allows that) if necessary Virgil and others say the same above. If you are listening Exede my experience was horrible.

DON'T SIGN UP WITH THEM

Sep 17, 2015 by Amy

We lived in an area that had Comcast service for several years. 8 months ago we moved to the country and I signed up with Excede for a 24 month commitment. BIG MISTAKE!!! I am trying to save anyone else from signing up with this slow, expensive, inadequate data service. I found a service Michiana Supernet that has unlimited data and fast speeds for $70. I am not a gamer or huge data user and Excede data limits are too restrictive even for me!!!

Horrible Service

Sep 16, 2015 by Cheryl Shepherd

For the past there months we have been advised that we have exceeded our allowed GB\'s. Several times now we have contacted Tech support and they advised us that an I phone, Linux OS and Widows 95 were showing up on our network. We do not have any of these things, so obviously someone is hacking us somehow. We channel all of our systems passwords; Routers internal, external; coputers, etc. Again they shoes up, so we bought a new Widows 10 computer and a Linksys Router. Anyway, over a thousand dollars later and scrambled passwords later, guess what!!! The I phone, Windows 95, and Linux OS are back. Well sort of coming into my home I was told by a very rude Tech support that there is no way that these things can be there and they have to be mine. I promise you they are not!!! Exceed has already gone through my computers remotely so they know what I have! They offered to do this again and show me how to better use my data! Well, there is no evidence of any hackers inside my systems. I have encrypted all of my passwords, so now it must be coming from their Satillite Dish! Oh and I even changed the computer that the modem and router was connected to, to the brand new one!!! Exceed refused to even consider this! I requested a new one because the one I have must be failing. You would have thought I wanted a pound of pure gold! We new ER used over 4 or 5 GB\'s until June. You would think they would listen to us. I set all of my computer updates to let me do it. I have AT&T on my mobile devices with unlimited data so I use that on them, duh!!! I am at my wits end with them, but we live in the middle of nowhere, so what do we do!!!!

WORST SERVICE

Sep 15, 2015 by Melinda Perez

If I could give no stars I would. I was with Time Warner for over 6 years and moved to Direct TV. I explained to the representative that I work from home, my daughter uses the computer, and as a family we are constantly using WIFI. The representative did not explain that I would be on a limited plan. If I knew this, I would HAVE NOT AGREED to the service. As the technician was setting up, I explained to him all that we use the WIFI for. He said I wouldn\'t have a problem. Two days later it kept logging me off while I was working. It took me an hour to get it back to working, and this ended up happening three times after. I called and found out I am on a limited plan per month, and when I spoke to a representative and a supervisor they both did not help and ignored the fact that I was misinformed. Now that I cancelled the service, I am having to pay $360.00 because of terminating my contract, THAT THEY DID NOT INFORM ME CORRECTLY IN! They did not help with the cancellation fee even with the fact that I have only been with them for two weeks. I will never recommend this company to anyone. I will make sure to let those know how bad of a company they are, and how they treat their customers. The lack of customer service in unbelievable.

for what poor service we get this is grossly over priced. i end up rebooting frequently lose web page connections etc.we will definately not renew when contract runs out. we use almost no data and yet our allotment is gone within days of starting new period, the reason for the 1 star rating is they don\'t allow negative numbers.promised made when signing up were not kept. over charge for installation download slow do not, repeat \"DO NOT\"sign up with this company

Worst Internet Service on the Planet

Sep 11, 2015 by Suz

The speed is deplorable. My websites are constantly timed out. When paying bills on line, it is a nightmare. The process is timed out. Have no way of knowing if payment is processed. Have to wait 3 days, contact the vendor, and then try to process the payments again. My browsers crash constantly.
I have Vonage phone service. My calls constantly were dropped or so much noise on the line you couldn't hear the other person.
Technicians came out and tweaked everything yet again, and nothing changed. When I purchased the service I was not told that my telephone time would be included in the 10M data. As a result, my first month cost over $90. Until I moved my service to another provider, I had to use my cell phone for all my business calls. And I had to change my phone plan to unlimited calling.
I am still trying to find a website to cancel my service even though I disconnected it over 2 months ago.

Poor Customer Care and Unreasonable Fees

Sep 10, 2015 by Abbie

We chose Excede because it seemed like a customer-oriented business that really cared about delivering high quality service. But when we found out that we were moving - our options were to either cancel the service and pay an early termination fee or transfer the service but have to be locked into a new 2 year contract. And either way you are responsible for taking down the equipment yourself or pay an additional fee for a technician to come take it down for you.

The company's unwillingness to work with you and inflexible contracts aren't worth the price you pay each month. I would recommend looking into other providers before choosing Excede. It will save you time and money later on. I'm definitely going to do more research next time.
