ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

Ripped off

Jul 01, 2015 by Charles

We used for 1 week and ran out of our data package and were told we had to wait until next month to use again. We then asked to cancel service since that is not what we signed up for. They said we were locked in for 2 years and couldnt cancel. So we have been paying for a year and not using. We signed up with other company. We are now moving and want to cancel but will be hit with penalty. It will end up costing us us almost $1000 for 1 week of service. Plus they want us to go up on roof to get something off the dish or they will hit us with another penalty fee.
They are so cold and do not care or even try to help. What a rip off!!!
I understand there would be a penalty, but nobody tried to help us, they basically just said we were SOL!!!
Sincerely,
A disgusted customer

Great Service!

I live in the middle of nowhere, so my only options for internet were satellite internet from Exede or dial up from the phone company. The phone company charges $85/month. With Exede, I pay $59.98/month for 10GB of data. And I use the internet a lot. I work from home designing websites, I take online college courses, I home school my son through online courses, and I play a lot of online games in my free time. I do go over my data cap every month, usually about 5 hours before it resets which is fine because that's about the time I shut my computer off and wind down for the night. I've also had nothing but great customer service from my local contract provider. It's over an hours drive from their shop to my house, but when I called to turn my service on, they were here first thing the next morning. And whenever I have a problem with my service, like the wind knocking my satellite out of place, they're here the same day to fix it. I love Exede and recommend it to all my friends and family.

Exede is Pretty Good

I am adding this review in hopes of helping everyone who may have the same problem that I had. I have been with exede for two years, almost more. And about 4 months ago out of no where my data was disappearing. Keep in mind I use a network extender for cell phones, so if the internet doesn't work, my wireless doesn't work, and my network extender does work. We get no cell service, you can probably understand my frustrations. Anyways... I called and called, until finally one lady said have you tried updating your wireless router, and I thought now she is blaming my router for the issue. I looked into it, and sure enough my router needed a new firmware update. I called tech support ( netgear) for the router I had, and they updated it, and everything was perfect. A few weeks ago we had the same problem, I swore it couldn't be my router again so I called.. Somehow I used 21 GB in 2 days. Needless to say I got mad, and called Hughes Net. I shall warn everyone.. there service is SOOOO slow. I couldn't believe it. I was so happy at this point I had not canceled Exede. I got my husband to hook the exede back up... I called netgear and sure enough it was the firmware again. Long story short, Hughes Net internet is horrible and slow, Exedes internet gives much better speed, Customer service can be rude at time.. but I would rather have rude customer service than slow internet. IF you have a wireless router, that could be the problem. I hope this is helpful.

Don\'t get exede internet

They have forced me to give 1 star, I wouldn't even give them that. I have had this service for about 3 months and it is absolutely horrible. I am stuck with this crap for another almost 2 years, or I have to pay $15 for my remainder months. The internet service starts out great, then in my opinion they start cutting you speeds back. I spend more time trying to reset my stuff, then I do on internet. I can be for example watching Netflix and it plays fine for about half hr or so, then it will have to reload every 10 seconds or it just drops me all together and I have to go reset my stuff, and hope that fixes it, it will re sign me in but then I spend the next hr watching buffer screens every 10 seconds.
Worst internet you can get, I wouldn't recommend Excide to my enemies .

Price gouging and redlining

Jun 29, 2015 by Sean

Company does not offer uniform pricing/service access to all Americans. We currently have the biggest internet data package the company offers and it doesn't cover our internet usage needs. We are able to buy more Gigabytes at an inflated price per Gigabyte. Or plan is 25 GBs for $129.00 a month. If we go over we can buy GBs for $5.99 per GB. However the company offers much lower priced plans through out the country. For example they have a 150 GB plan for $99.00 in New York City. 150 GBs in Northern Michigan (where my service is rendered) Would be $878.74 a month. $129.99 covers the first 25 GBs under the contract and 125 GBs at 5.99 is $748.75. That is almost 9x as much money for the same amount of GBs. That is price gouging and redlining. Why do people in Northern Michigan have to pay $778.75 more for the same amount of GBs as someone in New York? From the information I gathered from the customer service department it has to do with competition. Where we are at in Northern Michigan ViaSat is my only option for internet access, Obviously there are many other internet service providers in New York. As a customer I feel that ViaSat is giving better deals in areas where there are other options and making customers in areas with no options pay extremely high rates. I have filed several complaints with the company, that there highest package in my area is not meeting my needs as a consumer. I have asked for a package that offer more GBs or a way to be able to purchase more GBs at a fair price. Company refuses to make an adjustment despite the obvious obtuse discrepancy in price in access between Michigan and New York. Its not fair charge 9 times as much for the same service, due to lack of competition in my area. I feel like I am paying the difference that allows ViaSat to offer more competive packages in places like New York. I feels like ViaSat is taking advantage of those customers who have no other viable options for internet.

Taken for a ride!!!

Received this service as a bundle through Direct TV. We could not connect to WIFI, and Viasat/Exede(even though we were paying them for the service) they could not help with the problem. They gave us a contact in INDIA. And after 5 different phone calls, I could not get them to understand or correct the issue. If I had known(been told by Direct TV), that I would be dealing with a foreign country, I would never have agreed to the service in the first place. Now it's costing me 315.00, to make them go away so I can get service that I can use. What a joke!!....and shame on Direct TV for not checking out their integrity, and the level of service they provide.

Terrible!!!!!!!!!

Called customer service and spoke to Anna ID#1985 I think. She would not give me her last name (guilty). They were rude. Would not explain why my bill went up $20 this month. She straight up avoided the question. Serious rip off. Do not buy into this!!!!! If I could chose a zero star rating, I would!!

Horrible Experience

Jun 28, 2015 by Christina

I got this internet because I thought bundling with my direct tv would be best, man was I wrong. First thing I didn't understand was that they put an ugly dish on my house next to the direct tv one. Second, bad weather = no internet. Third you are limited about the amount of usage you get each month. Fourth, I got stuck in a 2 year contract. And sixth, the final nail in the coffin, is that when I did disconnect (when my contract was up) they want me (a single female, well Im married but my husband is in the Army Stationed 8 hours away, thanks for supporting the troops) to climb on the roof and disconnect their equipment myself or charge me a $95 fee to send someone out. NEVER EVER get this internet.

Good internet

I started with Wildblue which was slow and jumped at the chance to change over to Exede. Yes, at one time it was a choice to change! I like everyone here have no other choice but satellite for internet. I had the largest plan they offered 25G I think and had to buy extra a few times, but then got my son a 3D printer and I had to buy like 40 extra Gig. I called a few times and was told there was no bigger plan I could buy....I finally got on a chat with customer service and asked if I could get a separate service just for the printer and was told they do have a larger plan! It is called the Freedom Plan and has150G and is cheaper than the plan I was on! I have never seen it advertised anywhere on their site! The only restriction (I can remember) is it is not for business use.
So, if you have issues going over, ask about the Freedom Plan, or get on their customer service chat! If I wouldn't have, I would be paying 400+ or a very expensive printer would be collecting dust!!

I purchased this as a bundle deal from direct tv. This is absolutely the worst internet service provider I ever use. The customer service representative is useless. Please do not waste your time.
