As bad as it gets !

May 08, 2015 by Patrick

Can have a worse service.
When it is cloudy, I'm inside, on my computer. So bad I can't use the service. When everyone is logged in, too many people bog down the system. When I use too many minutes, I'm downgraded from terrible to worse. I understand all that.
But when on a normal day I can't update my Garmin GPS because "No reliable internet connection detected", that is not fair.
When I can't log in to my company expense report system (Concur" because "request timed out", that is not fair.
I had to go to Mac Donald to do it.
That was not part of the deal with the salesman (I subscribed to the highest program).
HughesNet managers say "hey, all reviews are from complainer, that is why are ratings are so low". Well, no. It is because people are dis-satisfied. It is because your system does not work.
We had a hard time to get the upload (principally) and download when looking at testmy.net
Junction came to our area with a slower service: it works so much faster. Yeah, man.
Sorry to say it is horrible, happy to be gone.
Best.

So, my friend was signing up for this service and the company wanted her to give a friend's name, so I allowed her to use my name. Then they wanted to run a credit check on my name so she could get a discounted price on internet service. WHAT KIND OF BULLPOOP IS THAT?

tokens

Beware!

Apr 28, 2015 by Heather

Their sales department did not disclose they would be conducting a hard credit inquiry....days before we were to sign on our house. When I tried to resolve it, I got the biggest run around every. Sales said it was pre-install, pre-install said it was sales. Everyone condescendingly trying to tell me it wasn\'t a hard credit inquiry and would not effect my credit, even as I sat there staring at the credit report that showed other wise. Still hasn\'t been resolved. So I filed a complaint with their corporate (no reply yet), with BBB, and with the FCC. I also had to file a dispute with the credit agencies to clear up my credit.

The absolutely worst experience with a service provider in my life!! They don\'t care about their customers.

This is the worst internet I have ever had, data runs out in about 2-3 days, download and streaming speed is POKIE! It took 2 days to download a 1 HR TV show. I have never been so frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This service has been a nightmare from the start. Don't even signup, you will run out of service on the 20th day of the month, and they will start hocking you for coupons that buy you 20 minutes of service.

Up yours net neutrality!

Apr 26, 2015 by Mike

I was with the Tds DSL bundle for 15 years. 13 of them were glorious. They took away their 10mbps and 15 Mbps options leaving me with just 5mbps for $80 a month. Worse, because I dropped my dish package to the second lowest to help cover the cost, they took away my bundle discount. After many weeks of research, it came down to Hughes or excede. Hughes had a lower prices after the initial discount so I went with them. First of all, the download speeds are killer. On a clear day I'm rocking 18 Mbps during no -peak times. The upload speed has been slightly disappointing at 1 Mbps. If it drops below that my son has trouble gaming. Not a whole lot of wriggle room there. But it's still enough that I can confidently have no regrets about dropping TDS. If you have a smart phone you know that usage plans just suck period. You can smoke through 10gig in an afternoon on Netflix or anything in HD. Better get acquainted with the crappier stuff on you-tube. Also, you need to understand the usage times. I was very confused at first but we've adjusted our viewing to deal with it. Satellites internet is just so different than DSL or cable. It's just a completely different set of parameters that I am still getting used to. You can purchase usage tokens to supplement your month's usage. The usage meter is very helpful in understanding your household usage. Bottom line is that when the weather is crappy, your usage probably goes up. Hughes service agents are strangely trained. So over the top nice it feels disingenuous but I suppose I'll get used to that too. With net neutrality passed in DC, I'm afraid our choices are going to continue to be limited or downgraded. While I'm totally upset with dish, I'm reluctant to take up another bundle. For me this is still a work in progress. If you are unsure, it's best to talk with someone who already has satellite internet. It is very different but my speeds are very fast.

1.1 5.0 418 418 Was with Hughesnet for a total of 5 years. First 2 years by contract. Last 3, month to month. When I cancelled the service to go to Starlink, they were unwilling to prorate the Hughesnet Gen4 Satellite Internet
