ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. If you have one laptop that you use once a week this satellite internet will work somewhat OK. Beyond that it is a total waste of money. Data CAP is very inadequate and the speed has never reached advertised speed. The speed is so bad that it causes a 2-3 second voice delay while pairing with an ATT microcell. I honestly cannot figure out how DirectTV allows them to bundle because it will not even come close to supporting a video download much less Netflix, et al. My disappointment is so severe it cannot be measured. Customer support had no mercy on my situation whatsoever. This mistake is now costing me over $300 to cancel this contract.


Horrible. Don't get if you don't have to

Horrible internet service. We got the 10GB per month and use it all within 2 weeks and rarely use the internet. How do you use 10gb of data and hardly use the service? Bad customer service as well. The bad thing is, we live in a rural area so this is one of our only options for internet. Looking at all the other reviews posted, it seems I am not alone. How do they keep scamming people??? I cannot wait until my 2 year contract is up!!!


Worse than I can imagine

Exede has changed the way they meter data. Last year we purchased 5G per month and could download a movie or two. No we purchase 15G and run out of data in two weeks. No movies, no streaming, no nothing. All I do is read the newspapaps. Viastat modem died and the service person missed three appts. We live in Montana and were told our "local service provider" is based in Spokane WA!! LOCAL? really? I asked them to send me a modem and they said they couldn't. It's now 10 days later still no web connection. Need I say more?


Uses more data than competitors

I literally have to call and spend 2 hours on the phone with these people every 2 weeks because I am flying through 20gb of data. I have NEVER went exeded my data limit with any other provider! EVER! and the day I change apparently my family changed their internet usage routines!!!! My issues have not been resolved and now have had to go up to a higher package just to have enough data! I am beyond frustrated. Stay with your slower speed. At least you won't run out of data.


worst company EVER!

Giving them 1 star is more then this company deserves. If i could give them negative stars i would! Whatever you do NEVER EVER use excede internet or via sat, they are the WORST company ever!!! Not reliable internet, spent more time on hold trying to get my service working then I have ever spent on hold ever in my life, this morning after 1.5 hours on the phone I was told they could not help me because nothing was wrong and they could send another, yes I said ANOTHER, tech out for a service call but couldn't have him out here until march. When I asked if they were going to charge me for the service when it wasn't working the answer was yes of course you need to pay for the service. Um, no. So after 2 hours and 500 dollars later I have to go find another provider. Ridiculous! Absolutely stupid! Never bundle with DirecTV,and never use excede/ via sat!!! Spread the word your friends should all be aware of this horrific company


There should be a law!

This service needs to be checked by PUC or some other entity with legal power. I never received what I was told I would. I did not once get an answer from a customer service rep. that was of any use to my issues.
I signed up for the phone and ISP service. It was a mess from the 1st day no phone service with my number into month two. We ran out of gigs into the 1st 2 weeks, I've never run out of gigs before. No one was of any assistance at all. I have M/S and there were numerous times I had no phone or internet. I spoke to "Corporate" about our doctors not being able to reach me and they were like "and". I will be taking this to my local bay area news and the lawyers that help the disabled to help me with the 2 year agreement they won't let me out of. Also, now I have an "antenna" (its a dish) on my roof that I have to take down and send back. There pat answer was "I should have educated myself." If you don't know there is a question to ask how can you ask it. I don't know how my computer works either but when I turn it on it works. The misrepresentation from this Company is criminal.
This is part of what's wrong with the world today. We are all Americans and yet there are those that just cannot function with truth and honesty. This company is one of those. This company caused me nothing but stress.


A very dissatisfied customer

I will be very short with this review. Do yourself a favor. Do not subscribe for Exede. I had service installed in November. It never has worked correctly. Speed test shows: Download speed 1.58 mb. Upload .39mb. I have spent 20 to 30 phone hours trying to get them to resolve the problem. They say there system does not show a problem so will not send out a tech. They refuse to accept responsibility. And will not let me out of my contract. Don't make the mistake I made.
Has anyone reading this had any luck getting out of the contract? If so please post your advise here.


Exede over-promises and under-delivers

We have had Excede for 4 months now. We pay $50 a month for the first year and $60 a month for the second year. If the next 20 months are like the first 4, there will not be a third year. Not once have we ever reached the advertised 12 mbps speed. I checked it just before I wrote this review and it was 3.32 mbps. I thought 10 gigabytes a month data would be plenty. It is not even close if you download pictures. Forget about Netflix. To go up from 10 gigabytes is VERY expensive. I just signed up for extra data on my iPhone from ATT for a lot less and use it as a hot spot any time I can to try to save data for my laptop. I wouldn't recommend Excede unless there are absolutely no other options available. I had Centurylink. Where we live it was slow, but at least their was no data limit. I am locked in for 2 years and I hope it improves. So far, the speed has gotten worse each month as Excede signs up new customers. I've called several times and they are very nice but nothing changes on the speed.
With Centurylink it was slow but it was only $35 a month with no data limit. With Excede it is slightly faster (but no where close to the advertised speed, there is a 10 Gig data limit, after which it goes from slow to snail pace, and the cost is $50 the first year and $60 the second year. Excede was an expensive mistake for me.


Exede for my business

We dumped Verizon to save money and we now run our satellite business using only the Exede satellite service. We also use the Exede Voice for an extra phone service and it works with excellent call clarity. The download speeds are almost always ABOVE 16 meg down. In our opinion for those in rural areas it's the most reliable and fastest high speed Internet service available


No good

I have been on exceed for 1.5 years. during that time. We have add so many times that bandwidth speeds were so slow. We call into the support desk and they tell us it is network congestion. Network congestion while we continue to spend our money with no discounts for slow speeds. They also have lately offered up an un-limited amount of data to new customers. However, existing customers have to continue on the plan. So we continue to use the 25 gig plane and we average 34 Gig per month. This cost us a lot of money. While Excede adds new customers with un-limited access and our network constantly is congested. In my opinion stay away or run away from this. There is news internet services out there that use the cell towers wireless networks and some are even 4G. They offer un-limited services at a fraction of the cost of exceed.


1.2 5.0 1231 1231 having seriouse speed issues, complained to company they schedualed a technician to come gave a 3 hour window for the tech to be there, waited the 3 hours then called and they said Exede broadband internet
