ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

I have to say I'm disappoint, one the sales rep gave us a different price then what I'm being charged. He said $55 and they actually charge $64.99 and the box is $10 every month. Also it rains and the signal goes out,.... New flash we don't want an estimated amount given, we want to know EXACTLY what you plan to pull from our credit cards.

What a JOKE

Jul 01, 2016 by Martin

Massive mistake!! Switched over from CL to try to get better speed and service that wasn't available in our area. Long story short they ported or home number over then, after upgrading our modem, mistakenly deleted the account and could not reestablish our home number. What a nightmare. Moreover, internet service speeds do not come close to the advertised rates. DO NOT BUY! Through all the issues the customer service reps are somewhat polite (to be fair) but utterly useless when it comes to actually helping to resolve any problem.

NEVER get this unless you have no other option.

So I had to move out to the boonies under rare circumstances (roommates were moving out here and couldn't afford to find a place in town), and to my dismay, no internet provider came out here. So in desperation, my roommates and I broke down and signed up for this service, and it's something we fully regret. The speeds are subpar, even when we have our data, we have to tiptoe around so as to not use all of it up within a day, doing school work is iffy, the list goes on. We knew what we were getting into, because we did the research, and out of all the satellite internet, this was the best option. But I'm sorry, only having 15gigs a month to use at over $90 is a terrible business plan. The only upside is that we have free times between midnight and 5 am, so we can browse the web and do what we want without being throttled to dial up speed.

In the end, only get this if you have no other option, because every other internet company is better then this.

unsatisfied customer

Service is slow cant get to my email until 2-3 a.m. to pay bills or my phone is constantly disabled or says its out of range when I am setting in my house...They tried to tell me that it was this or that and it continues when we have tried on our end to fix the problems. We are up holding our end of the contract buy paying the over priced internet fees of $70 and not even able to use it for a months worth of it.....I would love to get out of the contract without having to pay fees. Very dissatisfied customer and would not tell my worst enemy about Exede!!!

Just don't

Jun 30, 2016 by Amanda

If i could give it a lower star I would. I would rather not have internet at all. And the customer service is awful. If you are smart you won't go near this internet with a ten foot poll. I am now trying to lower my internet just so I don't have to pay them 300 dollars to cancel because its been awful since the day they installed it. I was lied to about the service and I should have done better research. It bundled with my DIRECTV and my area does not receive century link otherwise I would have never gone near it.

BEWARE

Jun 29, 2016 by LG

We tried this service because it sounded (operative sounded) like a good service and good deal. Buyer Be Ware. The price is right...for a low quality service. The agent who sold us on Excede emphasized that we could cancel at any time at no cost to us. He sold us on the 12GB package with the option of buying more data but that we would have unlimited data after the 12GB was used; but that we would only be able to use one(1) device for streaming. The Techs who installed the modem put it in our garage on the West wall. We live in Arizona, the West wall is the hottest part of our property. Imagine, electronic equipment baking in 116 degree heat...in a closed garage in the Arizona heat. We kept asking if that was going to be a problem, "No, we've installed them next to furnishes in 180 degree heat." We asked that before they leave could they make sure our computer inside our home was connected, "That's not our job, we just make sure you have a signal that works". Ya, it worked on their laptop which was sitting right next to the modem and router. Guess what...it took me another 2 hours to get connected in the house after they left. It worked great for all of 3 days. Once we streamed a movie the speed slowed and our signal to our computer kept going in and out. We would be connected for 5 minutes then it would go out for 30 to 60 seconds at a time. Then after about day 6 it wouldn't connect at all. By that time the frustration was setting in. I call their tech support (the only guy who I found to be nice). He agreed the router and modem had no business frying in the garage but he helped me re-sync the router and modem and it worked for all of 1 hour. After that we couldn't connect again so I did what the tech told me to do to reconnect modem/router. Then I called Norton Techs...the woman couldn't even get in to help because our system kept disconnecting. The next day my husband called Norton and tried again. The Tech got in to service our computer but promptly got kick off line. For three hours he would reconnect and then after about 3 or four minutes the line would disconnect.
Today after two weeks I cancelled. First I tried calling the Customer Service number and the recording informed me that they identified my phone number (connected to the account) as belonging to another service provider so I was to call them and then DISCONNECT! THEM? Who is them who I am supposed to call? I used my cell phone to look up Excede and used my Verizon data to Chat with a Service Rep.
Do not believe them when they tell you that you can cancel at any time...you're not locked into a contract. That is a bunch of bull. You will be charged a cancellation fee.
The service is shotty at best. If you are a person who has all day to watch the little dots spin while your system is trying to connect to the internet or you like having to restart your modem and router every other hour then you are very welcome to pay the low price for their internet service. Oh and did I tell you that after you use your established data amount their fine print says they have the right to slow down your speeds? Ya, but we hadn't even used 7GB of our data when all the problems began.
The only reason I gave this service a 1 star is because it most likely won't submit if I didn't check one of the stars. And what is this crap...in order to submit my review? "Check this box to confirm you are a human?
STAY AWAY from EXCEDE pay for quality, and reliability and go with Verizon or AT&T or one of the more reputable companies even if you pay more. It is worth your sanity and frustration. These guys should be reported to the FCC for false and misleading sales practices.

Will not transfer service for free - What they don't tell you

Jun 28, 2016 by Mary

Zero stars for this one. Worst service ever!!!!! I got ready to transfer service which is supposed to be free. What they don't tell you when they say you are responsible for returning the equipment is that you must also retrieve the transceiver from the satellite even if it is on the roof of your house! Seriously??? Or, you have to pay big $$$ for their technician to do it. It's not free to transfer your service. I even complained to a supervisor. They are way too expensive to treat their customers no better than that.

Dishonest, expensive

Have had this service since the company was Wildblue, until today. We were paying 80/month for 12-15G of data, with no cap from 1-5am. Not great but kind of okay. We considered switching to a Hughes net plan that cost the same but offered 50g anytime and 50g from 2-8am. I called Exede to see if they had a comparable plan. They offered me a 50% off 3 month trial of their Liberty 30 plan. 30g, no additional after hours data but you can still do web searches and email once you go over the 30g. I was assured that the only charges would be 1/2 of the $149 plan (74.99) for 3 months, plus the modem rental. My credit card bill came and I was charged $220 for the first month. I called and the representative looked at the charges and said there had been an error and she would fix it. Fine, figured that would happen. Logged in to look a few weeks later and my account had not been credited. Called again. This time the rep I got was so rude that I asked to speak to a supervisor. Waited 30 minutes for the supervisor. She told me that they charge one month in advance at the non discounted rate, plus the half off month! So I payed a prorated amount and ALSO $149 for one month. She said the first person did not have the authority to make that offer. Was not able to get her to budge, let her know I would be canceling our service, which she did not seem concerned about, even though we had ben customers for 15 years. Called Hughes net yesterday, got a plan that is the same price but more than 6x as much data. They came out today, on time, installed it and I called exede to cancel. When I explained the issue to the rep he said "I'm glad you told me that because we are allowed to give 50% off for 3 months but no one ever told us that the customer is charged one month in advance at the non discounted rate". Never publicly complained about a company before but also never experienced anything so dishonest. Plus they aren't even competitive. Stay away!

Rather go without

Jun 26, 2016 by Jessica

Got scammed by directv to sign up with this satellite service for internet. Like other reviews posted I was lied to about the Internet speeds. Had many issues and have had to call multiple times to complain. I signed up for the service in order to complete my bachelors degree because I had some online coursework that went along with the face to face class. Half of my homework never loaded and I was forced to go to the library or a friends house to use their wifi that was much better. Facebook barely loads on my phone and Netflix is crap using this internet. Do not get this service ever. It's a ripoff. 5gb allowance for $60 is way too expensive.

1.2 5.0 1231 1231 having seriouse speed issues, complained to company they schedualed a technician to come gave a 3 hour window for the tech to be there, waited the 3 hours then called and they said Exede broadband internet
