ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

WORST SERVICE YET!

If I could give 0 stars I would. This company nickel and dimes you to death. I was on the Classic 10 Plan which they tried to switch me over to the Liberty Plan. After 18 months of faithful service, they terminated my account saying I downloaded too much. This company is corrupt because I didn't switch over to their Liberty Plan. I found a much better provider in my rural area, Frontier, who has unlimited data as opposed to 10 GB monthly from Excede. They also charge a lot less putting my hard earned money to better use.


Exede is heartless!

Moved my inlaws near us to be their caregivers, they are 82. Within a few months mom started having medical issues that required nursing home care.. Exede would not let us out of the contract and charged us a 352 dollars fee. We even presented paperwork from the doctor stating mom must have nursing home care. A stressful family crisis and Exede was heartless.

PS. The wait time on the phone is horrific and then lots of noise in the background when you are trying to set up service.


Don't upgrade to new modem

Upgraded to new Exede WiFi modem. Needs to be reset 2-3 times a week. Never had a problem with old modem just since upgrade. Techs have been out three times replacing cable connection, dish antenna then dish. Latest call to customer service they tell me since internet works after rebooting and techs don't have any notes on what to do, there is nothing more they can do. I just have to keep rebooting the modem. Also found you can't go back to the old system once you upgrade. First time in 12 years I'm not happy with customer service. I will be looking for an alternative Internet service once my customer care contract is up.


Horrible

Contracted with Direct TV/ATT internet. Direct TV set up in a.m. ATT appt set for 2p.m. Installer wass supposed to be here 2-3 hours, but done in 45 minutes. My entire order was wrong. Called Direct TV to complain, they asked what was printed on my dish. It said EXEDE INTERNET. I was told it should have said DIRECT TV. Somehow, EXEDE got the order and installed everything wrong. I canceled with Direct TV immediately and they refunded my money. EXEDE is a different story. They say my internet was active, even though the box was sitting on a chair with nothing hooked up. I told them in no uncertain terms to cancel and \'disconnect\' my disconnected internet. They are now trying to charge me $ 345 for early termination. I have proof from ATT that they were supposed to be the installers, but EXEDE won\'t back down. Time for an attorney??


Exceed internet & phone

3 weeks into it and their customerservice@viasat.com never/NEVER answers my complaints. Continual phone down or issues. We also live in a rural area no other choices than AT&T. Internet as others claim, slow/SLOW! I have a 2 year contract and believe me, I have enough ammunition to cancel them soon and let them try and charge me.


Do not use Exede

Due to a move that is out of our control (lease not being renewed at our current residence), we are unable to use Exede at our new address which we are moving to. The landlord of the new house that we are leasing does not allow dish installation or setup anywhere on the property. Hence, we must cancel our service plan. Exede won't grant any special clemency - they want to charge $255 to cancel. It is the highest cancellation fee of any service that I have used to date - water, sewer, power, television, and other services that I have used have much less expensive cancellation fees.

The service in general is slow and poor; it degrades in inclement weather, and there were many outages where data transfer (both transmit and receive) slowed to unacceptable levels. One outage lasted almost a day with no email notification of an interruption in service. There are no notifications sent to alert customers of impacts due to outages and no notice when services would be restored. Do yourself a favor - find some other internet service provider to use, and stay away from Exede. They are out to take your money, rip you off, and not deliver quality service. I believe that the service plan itself is a ripoff, and the Liberty Pass an excuse to deliver shoddy, inconsistent service where with a satellite link, service should be nearly always available and fast. I also believe that the uplink and downlink technology from earth transmission station to satellite is not optimized or configured to handle the load that is placed on the transmission satellite during peak hours. The geostationary satellite itself is a decommissioned military satellite that has old and outdated equipment aboard. With all of this in mind, think before buying the two-year contract. If you have to cancel it before the minimum of the 24 month contract is met, you will be charged $15 per month that you don't use. That sucks! Think about it - you're being charged for something that you won't or cannot use. So stay away and opt for a different internet service unless of course, you had absolutely no choice like I had while living in a region not served by cable. I'll add too that dish internet is not a suitable replacement for cable internet. So avoid these scammers, and go with another provider and service.


I love Exede - No problems here!

I started using Exede back in June 2013. I live in the boonies so it was my only choice. At first I was on a limited plan with free late night. I was told 12 down and 3 up so I figured that would be fine. About a year into this they came out with the \"Freedom\" plan but then soon dropped it but I was lucky enough to get it. 150 gb for $109/month. For the most part I get 17-18 download and maybe 3 up but I can stream HD and do all of my work and never come close to using the whole 150 gb. I don\'t think they offer this plan anymore for anybody but it might be based on zipcodes? I do know they are adding a new satellite sometime this year and it is suppose to double up on the speeds. To me, it is better than nothing - I\'d love to have FiOS but the big V won\'t run fiber to my house! Guess I\'ll live with my Exede for now 🙂


Stay Away from Exede

We live in a rural area and Exede was our only option. We signed a 2 year contract and were not happy with the service from the 1st month, had to wait two years to cancel the contract.

The internet service was slow as the good old dial up days, anything besides retrieving and sending email was a hassle. Rain would cut off the service.

We called them early in March to cancel and were told to call back on the 26 to cancel. Due to the Easter holiday we forgot to call on the 26 and called them on the 28th, when our billing cycle starts again, now they are going to charge us an entire month because \"they do not give refunds\" For two years just hearing the name Exede would make me sick. Save yourself the pain and heartache and stay away from them.

Excede With Liberty Pass Is Good

Being out in A Rural area we cannot get cable or DSL .My neighbor across the street has Hughes Net Gen4 and he hates it so I gave him the name of my local installer.It goes out in heavy rain which is similar to Directv which we also have here but I did not go through them to get this service .I think a lot of the negative reviews are from people who had this installed through them .Use a local provider and you will not have issues.Do not expect to stream tons of movies this is not cable internet .They have a new satellite going up in the next year and we will eventually have the 25 up connection.When I am on my priority plan I see around 15- 18 up 5 down.Liberty data is slowed to 5 up 2 down seen it consistently that for two months after priority data was used .I am on Liberty 18 like it much better than the Classic Plan.This is the best solution for rural internet if you can get cable where you live get it.Don't complain this has been much better than Wildblue which was very slow.Thanks Excede!
