ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

Out of service more than in. BAD customer service. Talked to 2 different people and neither were helpful.

I only gave them one star because I have to in order to give this review. This is the most deceptive company I have ever encountered. I'm surprised people can actually work for them and sleep at night. I received an email the minute I signed up that explained I was unable to cancel from that point on. So I stuck with them for as long as I could stand it. I had a 2 year contract with them but only made it 11 months before I cancelled. The service is shoddy, only working half the time. I could never watch videos...besides the fact it would eat up all the allowed data, it also wouldn't play without multiple pauses. When I tried to cancel, they gave me three different quotes to cancel my contract. I finally told them I would pay the lowest price quoted just to get rid of them. I had to mail the equipment back but am still stuck with this God awful satellite dish and pole in my yard. I had to pay $185 to cancel 12 months early. Please...do NOT do business with this company. Go without internet first...I certainly will!

Is there anything less than 1 star, should be. Had DSL from phone company and it was slow and dropped frequently. Thought satellite would be better. Big mistake in switching. Slow response to internet. Have had to reset modem and router very often to get any internet. Take about 20 to 25 seconds for the Exede website to load, so I can check my usage. Tech Support is a big joke, they run checks from their side and tell me that everything is working fine. Tried to blame it on the router that the Tech that installed the system recommended. Told me to hook directly to the modem but that didn't help and that eliminated to wireless capability while I did it. NOT ONCE did they offer to send a Tech to our home to check the system from my end. Looking forward to getting rid of it when the time is up.

I'm very rural. Service is ok until you hit your data cap. Hard to understand why every month I hit my data cap by mid month when I don't do anything more than facebook and email on the computer. Very rarely do we use exede on our phones! I do not do Netflix or any video streaming (if I watch a video occasionally it's not more than a 2-3m video on fb. I emailed customer service and they called me and said they're phasing out the plan I have and can upgrade me to another plan exact same data limit with the restricted data after meeting your limit for 10.00 more a mth...I tell the CSR that I found some comparable plans with another provider that offered more data, they were not willing to negotiate or try to meet that. So I advised I was going to just find another provider. Before we hung up she said, thank you and we appreciate you being a loyal customer, I said, "no you don't"...you're not willing to even meet me a little with a better plan...click....NO I would NOT recommend them to anyone. Their packages for my area are ridiculously pricey for the comparison of what Hugh's is offering. The CSR did tell me the connection speed with them is higher, I said what difference does that make if I'm going into data restriction by mid month! So frustrated!!

This is the absolute WORST INTERNET SOLUTION IN THE HISTORY OF EVER. I would rather use dial up. The only thing keeping me from BREAKING THE INTERNET BOX IN HALF AND THROWING IT IN A LAKEis the 5% of the time it works. No one should be submitted to this form of torture. Nothing can make it work. Internet doesn't last 4 days. I'm writing this review on my phone because it gets 3G. If you are considering exede for Internet because there is absolutely no way you can get anything else, don't get Internet.

Their service is horrible.
When you call you can not get help.
When we moved and no longer needed the service we were informed we needed to climb on top of the roof to retrieve the satellite and hardware or we would be charged an additional $300.
They DO NOT SEND BILLS. They only charge your credit cards. So when you try to dispute your bill you have no recourse.
Also, after you cancel them they DO NOT SEND YOU BILLS. We thought we were pay up and then the collection letters started coming.
We were never late and when I asked to get copies of my bills we were reminded " THEY DONT SEND BILLS"
Be careful. The service SUCKS. Its slower than a rotary phone line and your paying tons of money for it.
Plus it is a 3 year contract..... Think twice....

OMG! I got better internet service on an island (Oahu), in the middle of the ocean than I did with this company. WORST internet service ever! & the customer service?! Forget about it!


Give me Liberty (Pass) or give me death

I have had Exede for a couple years and lately it seemed like I could never make it a month without running out of data. At that low point I would have rated it 2 stars.

However, last month I upgraded to their best plan with the Liberty Pass and now it has been a MUCH better experience. I rate it 4 solid stars because now even when I exceed my data limit I can STILL watch netflix and amazon prime via the Liberty Pass.

If you can\'t get DSL or Cable, Exede with Liberty Pass is a solid solution IMHO. Remember, give me Liberty Pass or give me death 😉

PS Just make sure the installer (they are independent contractors) does a good job and don\'t sign until you verify that everything is working properly!!!

This is the best and only provider in my area. I receive phone and internet service through Exede. I have never had a problem with Exede. The customer service is a bit shabby at times that was until I called them today and Lily went above and beyond for me today. The issue I was having wasn't even Exede's fault.

Caps suck. But people remember If you're downloading a DVD movie that is 4g. If you have a 10g plan you've blown half of it right there. The speed is decent most of the time. Inclement weather will cause issues as with any rf signal.
QOS (quality of service) mostly relies on the buffoon installing it and the location of your dish (unobstructed skies 10 degrees all directions from line of site to satellite). Check your signal strength by typing 192.168.100.1 in you browser address bar. Click modem button. Rx SNR: should be 7.00 or better. If not clear obstruction (hopefully it is not the side of your house)or have dish realigned.


1.2 5.0 1231 1231 having seriouse speed issues, complained to company they schedualed a technician to come gave a 3 hour window for the tech to be there, waited the 3 hours then called and they said Exede broadband internet
