ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

WORST COMPANY OF ALL TIME!!!

Mar 31, 2015 by Tysun McCully

I signed up for Direct Tv which they bundled me with a joke of a company called VIASAT two years ago. I assumed since Direct Tv bundled me with an iternet provider they would be reliable. BOY WAS I WRONG! I noticed how awful their service was about a month into a 2 year contract that I could not get out of. I barely use the internet for more then going on ebay and checking e-mails. Direct Tv decided not to tell me that when they bundled me in with this GARBAGE COMPANY VIASAT that their was usage every single month. Meaning, if you pretty much check your e-mail mor then twice a day and maybe go to a sports site then your internet goes down to dial-up speed for the rest of the month. So I was paying this VIASAT $60.00 a month for 1 week of normal speed internet and 3 weeks of dial up. So I figured all of this out on my own by calling VIASAT. They gave me nothing but attitude and told me that I was basically stuck in this dead end 2 year contract and their way only way to break it. That way was to pay them over $800 to end the contract. So I let them know that Direct Tv never told me about usage, which VIASAT could care less of. I have had three other internet providers in the past and have never ever heard of usage on an internet account. So I then called Direct Tv and they also gave me attitude stating that I woudldn\'t be able to break the contract with VIASAT ever though Direct Tv never told me anything about. I waited 2 years for this awful service to end. Once the contract was up which was 2 weeks ago I directly called VIASAT and let them know my frustrations once again, and why I would not be going month to month with $60.00 dial-up speed service. So here is the kicker. Via Sat is a company that installs a satellite type dish on the top of your roof to get signals for your internet service. So when I told them I wanted to cancel out they told me that I needed to return some equipment of theirs. Then they told me I needed to get on the top of my 25 ft. roof and take down the dish and send it back. I told them that I had no idea how to get it down and did not have the equipment to get on my roof. This pathetic/confused customer rep. then told me I could pay their companh $125.00 for their guy to come an get it down. After about a half hour of my refusing and pleading my case of how I was never ever told that equipment would have to be taken down by me if I cancelled out then they finally agreed to credit my account to send somebody out to take it down for no charge. The only reason that happened is because I threatened to report this to the BBB which I am doing no and every any other site that I could complain on. So three day later equipment is down, and boxes were sent by them to me to pack it up. So I decided to make sure to call them to make 100% sure what exactly needed returned. The dish is a big piece of equipment that they did not send a box for. They only wanted a small part that was on the dish and a modem returned. This next part shows you how unreliable and how much the company continues to lie. The customer serivce rep I talked to said my account wasn\'t closed out when I called three days ago. So then I said yes it was and the rep continued to give me tons of attitude. Then he puts me on hold because he doesn\'t want to talk to me for 15 minutes, then he hangs up on me. I call back with a different rep. She says it was closed out three days ago. WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH IN MY 36 YEARS OF LIFE! [...]

Ridiculously Bad

Mar 30, 2015 by Angela Garrett

The first month I had this service, I watched 5 shows on Netflix and ran out of the 10GB/mo allowance.
For the next 6 months, I was afraid to go over the 10GB because the customer service rep made it sound like I would be charged for overages. Found out after 6mos, that it just drops to SLOW service.
The slow service is SO slow that anything running on Java shuts down/won't load. It's SO slow that I couldn't even download .doc and .docx documents. It's so slow that I can't stream anything and webpages load at the speed of sloth.
ONE extra GB for a month costs $10.
We can't hook our internet to our satellite TV service or to our Wii or to our kids' InnoTabs. We had to cancel Netflix and Hulu.

AND finally, they have a "Free Zone" of fast speed internet from 12a-5a each day. I had to download new games for my kids' InnoTabs last night and stayed up until midnight to hit the "Free Zone." The internet speed didn't pick up until 12:22am! False advertising.
Unhelpful customer service reps.
Cannot WAIT to cancel contract and find something... anything else... for internet.

really......

I've had this service four days, 4, and I'm already out of the 10 gb I paid for. I was stoked about it,really I was,now I'm out and have to pay for more. They slowed me down, waaaay down. Well be contacting my rep tomorrow and this week be taken care of. So upset. .

horrible decision going with exede

Okay here's the facts. You will pay the same amount of money as if you were buying gigs of data off your phone and hot spotting. (That is supposed to be for convenience of using internet on the go). For a home internet you want to pay a flat fee for unlimited/bulk data, well not with exede. Installer drilled a hole in the WALL of my house to pass the cable to the dish. Then, if you use internet to stream music or videos, you will be spending $100-$400 a month. Even their 50gig plan (goes down to 30gig after 6 months), I ran out in 2 weeks. Then their 'unlimited slow speed' is so slow that my router keeps kicking me off and I have to reconnect every 2min.

Bottom Line:
I consider this a scam. I was sick to my stomach when they automatically took $168.71 and overdrew my account today. And if I call to cancel? They'll hit that button so fast to withdraw $350 cancelation fee. My my, when did internet data become such a premium that you can compare it to gas in your car?! Terrible cust service, horrible installation, and the price is incomprehensible.

I am against anyone recommending this!

How to stop debits

Mar 28, 2015 by Joyce

People, people, people - if you disagree with any company deducting money from your bank account go in person to your bank, tell them the company is attempting to or has deducted the disputed amount AND explain why you are disputing the charge(s) and request your bank stop or reverse the charge(s).

I did this myself when Exede deducted the inflated monthly fee from my account. I showed my bank the screen shots from all previous months' charges which fluctuated AND gradually increased each month - $1 here, 75 cents there.

I explained that Exede never informs me of my monthly bill until the day they withdrawal from my bank. Thus, I never have time to dispute the charges beforehand.

My bank immediately requested the charge be reversed, and it was credited back to my account.

Exede did correct the charge, and I paid. Their service is much better since I got rid of the telephone service, but I keep a wary eye on the monthly Internet charge. And I will not hesitate to have my bank reverse disputing charges.

Ripped Off

We have been with Direct TV for many years and have been satisfied with the service. When we first signed up with Direct TV, we bundled with another phone/internet provider. We were happy with the company for many years. We had unlimited internet with a wireless router. When a direct tv represntitive came to our house to inquire about updating our boxes to the new genie boxes, he was trying to sell us a new phone/internet bundle that would save us 10 a month. He claimed we would have the same service we currently have but with a different company and save 10. We declined because we were happy with what we had, and for the fact that the new provider (exede) had paperless billing and we would have to give them our checking account number. No one should ever have control of your bank account but yourself. He later came back with his supervisor and had his supervisor talk to us and offered to get us a prepaid card to add as our account. They eventually talked my husband into switching. When they installed the services, I asked the installer what our wireless password was, and that is when I found out that we no longer had wireless internet. Once I got on the internet and started reading about the new exede service, I found that we no longer had unlimited internet. (again, misrepresented) We do not use the internet very often and we received an email that stated that we were over our data limit and we still have half of the billing cycle to go. The service is very slow and much much slower than what we had before. I called to cancel the service after finding this all out and was told that we were locked into a 2 yr contract via an electronic signature that we have never signed. So would I recommend a slow, not enough data to even stream a movie and no wireless router? Would I recommend going back to the 90s? No. I would not recommend Exede, nor would I still recommend Direct TV. If they could dislead and misrepresent loyal customers like they did us with a shady service as Exede, we will no longer do business with them.

Worst customer service, worst internet in the world!

Mar 27, 2015 by Page Wilhelm

We do not get any speed at all, we are constantly told we are over the highest monthly amount, 15 days if the month we have virtually NO service. No one responds to emails, call in and get put on hold for hours & hours, we have no choices where we live, satellite is it. I get infuriated when I see an ad that say says lightening fast speeds, how about turtle fast speeds!
Worst of all, never any resolution, they could care less about the customers!

Rip Off

Needed a VPN service for my work program. When I was unable to connect I was told they don't offer that service. So I cancelled the service and the next day they took the $ 314.00 early cancelation fee out of my Acct.
I can't believe companies can do this to their costumers!

Free installation not free

Mar 25, 2015 by Desi gray

Upon calling to get service installed, I was informed that the installation was free. Well contrary to my contract my credit card was charged a $99 fee for this installation. After contacting exede I was then informed that they did not offer free installation in my area, but they would make a one time exception and refund the fee. Well that was one week after the install and almost two months later and three more phone calls about the refund I still have yet to receive it. Every call always starts with 'Can I put you on hold while I talk to corporate' and and always end with 'you should see your refund in 3-5 business day' and when there's no refund the next call always start the same as the last. Beware of the free installation because 'for me' it wasn't free.

It's a scam! Do not sign up!!

Mar 25, 2015 by Cali

My mind is blown by how awful the customer service and actual service actually is. The Internet is slow and the data used is pulled from our DVR every time it records. So every single month we go over data and they are not doing anything about it except saying we can pay more to make it better. Then if we pay the money to break contract we have to get the dish off our roof ourselves.. Wtf?! I would love to see this company go out of business so no one else gets scammed on their awful product!!! Seriously?!

1.2 5.0 1231 1231 having seriouse speed issues, complained to company they schedualed a technician to come gave a 3 hour window for the tech to be there, waited the 3 hours then called and they said Exede broadband internet
