ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

Worst Service

We had this ISP for like 3-4 days now and we could not barely access the internet. I could not even check my emails because the internet is so slow. they offered 12mbps speed for web browsing and 3mbps for downloading but this not true, if this is true then how come I could not open my emails, my son can't even browse videos on youtube. The only reason why we got this exede as an ISP because they are bundled with direct TV. now that we know how rude their customer service agents and technician are plus the internet is very slow we regret the day we have exede as our internet service provider. Early termination fee would cost $15/month for the service that we did not get or was not provided to us. it seems like you are paying this company for a service that you don't actually use. it's a waste of money and time if you are tied up with their contract.

Got the service for my work program which uses VPN. I could never conect to the program. I could conect at Dunkin Donuts, connected at Start Bucks, connected at a friends home, but with their sevice not at all. So when I canseled the they nailed me with a $ 300.00 early cancelation fee, for providing no service.
Don't go there for Internet service you won't get any!

Glad to be FREE!

I've had ViaSat/Exede for about 10 yrs. Prior to that I had Hughsnet. I have to say, ViaSat was better than HNet by far. My basic problem with Viasat was the amount of data I had to buy for what seemed to me to be limited on-line activity. I many times used my ViaSat allowance of 15G's within 3 weeks. I called ViaSat several times asking about how I could be consuming so much data for what I felt was limited activity. They told me streaming used a lot of data, but I didn't do streaming. They said connecting your TV used a lot of data, but I didn't have my Directv service connected. They said having an insecure wifi could allow others to tap in, but my wifi was secure. They said updating your device used a lot of data, but I'd stay up to do updates AFTER midnight, when it was free. And by the way, it was free but also slow! I basically used one, and on occasion two, iPads on the connection. I limited my FB activity and primarily used the connection for web searches and email. I've now disconnected the service after a 4.5 month dispute with ViaSat over a $95 error in charging for a service call that never occurred. After nearly 5 months they finally gave me a partial credit off my bill. The last customer rep I spoke with (I called every month to get it resolved) had the audacity of telling me that perhaps I'd forgotten that the service was performed because it'd been so long. Really?? After making the same request for correction each month, I had the details memorized! He also said that more than likely the technician came and made the repair without my knowing it. After talking with this guy I was determined to find another ISP! That's when I discovered the T-Mobile hotspot. And what I've discovered after having this service is that ViaSat must have some inaccurate way of measuring data usage. In comparison, I was charged about 1G a day for ViaSat usage, but now with T-Mobile, pretty much doing the exact same activity, It takes me about 10 days to use 1G! Exactly what I suspected for so many years, my activity on ViaSat really never coincided with my data consumption. Sometimes in rural areas there's simply no other alternative to satellite service, but before buying such an expensive means of Internet service, check into mobile hotspots for your area. T-Mobile has been excellent so far, so thanks ViaSat for giving me such a hard time with an entitled credit, you actually did me a favor! I'm delighted to be FREE of ViaSat or any satellite!!

dont wast your time and money

ok don't get involved with viasat..they rely don't care about you as a customer..if they cared they would not be in a campaign of over selling there small band width..with hundreds or even thousands using the service at once..well i think you get the idea of what speeds you really can expect..but you cant even use the current speeds as a barometer of what the service will be like in the future because they are actively promoting the new unlimited service in selected markets..so they are screwing it up for the guys who don't want the 125$ a month bill...and if you think you can use the service during the free period to stream some video or anything else requiring bandwidth forget it and go to bed..there is so much competition for bandwidth during these times that often the service just grinds to a halt..you cant even get a webpage to open and im telling you as a late night user..a year ago it was only occasionally slow but in the past months its rare to find a free period that inst very crowded with to many users..so the service is of little use with about 350MB a day to use on a 10gig plan

Slow Service

Mar 22, 2015 by Norm

Exede has always been high cost for the speed and quality of service. As soon as the phone company brings service to our area Exede is gone. For several months the service was as good as advertised - which isn't great but acceptable. But tonight is the second time this year that our service is down to almost nothing. I've tried all the tricks and nothing works so I'm now on a 15 minute wait to talk to a tech.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

Excede internet was going to be a major from our Tmobile 3G internet router, but from the very second it arrived I was disappointed. First and formost, i had to stop playing games online with people because of how heavily satalite internet lags you. Admitedly I should have read the contract further, so I shrugged this off because the service was working great otherwise. I could surf the web indefinitely like our data plan promised and download at speeds of 2mb/s between 3am and 8am. However, ever since summer of 2014 when the data really started hitting our ISP, we have been in for one giant nightmare after another. They started to bottleneck individual services that we like to acess and started blocking sites that they dont like willy nilly. At this point, we cant even acess the internet without waiting for 5 minutes for a page to load, which was the whole reason we got rid of Tmobile to begin with. Im a telecommute journalist that writes from my home and now my internet service provider is blocking me from doing my own job. I hate you, ViaSat, Exede or whatever the hell you are. You are the biggest violation of internet servive that one could possibly encounter.

When bundling with DTV I was told what could do with my 15 gig a month package. Included was, gaming video streaming, and the usual stuff. I was told by 2 people, once to my face and once over the phone that playing call of duty worked great with my plan. After trying 5 times to load a match I decide to call exede. Long story shirt, they don't pair with all games, like call of duty. I felt like I was lied to and they don't care, not that I expected them to. The supivisor was very rude and told me to read more carefully before agree a contract. Fair, but I'm upset.

Wish I found this site before buying Excede

Where to begin...the installer was a nice guy, that\'s the only positive thing I have to say about this company.
We were put on a 20 Gig plan, and supposed to have free usage between the hours of midnight - 5 AM. I was okay with that sense I am a night owl.
I figured I would watch videos, download, etc during those hours and I would be fine -NOPE!!
Within 4 days they said I had already used 13 gigs, this is not possible. I checked daily and it claimed I was using 2-4 Gigs a day! So I called them, they gave me 5 gigs free and said they were having \"meter reading problems\" in my area. The 5 gigs they gave me were gone 2 days later.
Since then I have unhooked my router so that NOTHING can use the internet, and nothing is wired to the modem. I continue checking, and continue seeing my usage going up. I have already reached my 20 gig limit and now I am slowed to 256 Kilos WTF that is not even .5 of a megabit! I use internetSpeedTest.com. They claim during the free hours, after hitting your limit you are restored to full speed during 12-5am. Again NOT the case, I checked lastnight at 12:30, 2:00, and 3:00 and I am only getting 0.5 mbps. I called them today and they sent a signal they said that should fix the issue.
Oh and I am on a 49.00 plan, but they charge me 9.99 for the modem, and ac adapter. You cannot buy your own modem to avoid this charge. So add 10.00$ to every plan they have when viewing their pricing
Very dissatisfied. Would not recommend. I am going to use my phone as a hotspot and get rid of them.

HORRIBLE

Terrible. Internet is very slow and the data given with the plans just flies away even if not used they claim you have used up all of your data. We have no other option in this area but as soon as dish or anyother internet opens up for us to get, we will change in a heartbeat even if we have to pay of our contract. The free internet provided at midnight from 3am to 8am is false as at this time is when the modem starts flashing all the lights and it just doesn't work. This internet provider is a shame and it also blocks you whenever they please as you break their regulations of downloading and they always spy. It is a violation of privacy but they control since it is their service and you need it. I HATE IT
