I love DirecTV and have been very happy with them for 10 years. Had a few bumps in the road but they have always taken great care of me as a long term customer. I've had them while living in Florida as well as South Carolina.
I switched from Dish when Verizon offered a phone/internet/TV deal with DirecTV (their answer to what was then Comcast Triple Play).
I figured I would keep it until Fios came to town. I'm still waiting for that. D-TV customer service is nothing short of excellent. When I call, I am always thanked for being a DirecTV customer for X years.
I usually call twice a year to see if there are any ways to lower my bill. Many times I have been given $10 credits for 6 to 12 months.
I made an upgrade that would cost an extra $6 per month and was given a credit for $6/month that still appears on my bill years later.
When I wanted a Genie-Go, the price went from $150 to $120 to $99 and finally to FREE. (I mentioned that Comcast offers a similar service for no extra charge, so why don't you?)
My only complaint is with the Genie-Go. The software needs a major upgrade. Uploads to my iPad take a long time, but that problem may be Verizon DSL. Shows delete automatically after 30 days so keep them on your DVR just in case. You have the ability to rewind in 30 second increments, but FF through commercials is touch & go. Very annoying.
All things considered, you may lose part of a show during a heavy rain, but I used to lose Comcast for a day-and-a-half when a reckless driver took down a pole.
There's nothing perfect out there, but I like my DirecTV.
Best service ever
I've tried cable and DishTv but DirecTv provides the best service by far. Their customer service agents are always helpful and courteous. I have already recommended DirecTv to other family members and friends, and they are happy with DirecTv too.
Happy! I became a customer of DirecTv 17 years ago, and I have seen the service improve greatly over the years as far as the problems with service outage during rain storms and bad weather. It hardly ever goes out now, and if it does, it is only briefly. Their customer service agents go above and beyond to help in every way possible to resolve any issues you may be having--whether it be a lost signal, changing packages, requesting a lower or discounted bill. They are always eager to make the customer happy, and that I am. Thank you DirecTv for many years of top notch service. The only negative comment would be that AT&T partnered with them and my internet service is so slow that it takes a day and a half to stream a movie. Ridiculous!
Enough is Enough
We have had the various satellite services and will probably not return to any of them. I am looking at HDTV antennae and streaming services as well as free apps through roku and the likes as the price of this service is just too high and will go higher until I meet the 3 year commitment I made. I think that in the long run, it will save me money to quit, pay the early termination fee and go with the other services I mentioned above.
Have had DirecTV at this location 5 years, previously 7 years in Colorado. Satellite signals degraded or lost during snow or anytime heavy rain is on the line of sight of the dish to the satellite. Just the nature of this type of satellite communications...not an equipment problem. Service has been courteous and helpful when needed - which is seldom. Have whole house DVR and 4 boxes all of which have worked with out significant problems. Is it expensive - yes. Do I have a choice - no because I live in a very rural area.
GREAT in every way!
I LOVE Directv. I have been with them for 8 years now. We live in the middle of nowhere so our only options are satellite services but I would stay with Directv even if I had more options. I have the protection plan for all of my electronic devices in my home. That is why my bill is so high. The protection plan is worth the cost if you have a lot of electronics.
Customer service is highly attentive and will go above and beyond to help if you need it. Very good programming choices and it never goes out (unless we have 8 feet of snow outside).
I cannot say enough about how pleased we are with Directv.
Direct TV should sever all ties with Exede internet! The Internet service is horrible! I
canceled my Comcast service to get what seemed like a better deal but I am regretting it. The Internet is extremely slow and no one in the house can get their work done! My children cannot get their homework done and neither can my husband get his work done. It is very frustrating
Still love this service after 21 years!
We got Directv way back when they were first starting. We have had them at multiple locations and have never had any reason to be unhappy with them. In the early days it didn't take much weather to cut them out but that has improved dramatically over the years. The only complaint I have about them is if you do need to call about something their automated system drives me nuts, wish they had a way to bypass that and get to the rep faster as I have usually tried everything the computer is telling me to do before I call. 😛
Great for country
Been with Direct since they were sold at Radio Shack. Installed my first dish myself. Had a box go out recently and the tech came out and updated my dish and lines for no charge. It really has to storm now for me to lose service and then it is very brief.
