ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

Your service is VERY slow even when it refreshes each month. The usage goes quicker than I ever thought it could with Hughesnet. I switched with the promise of faster speeds and more usage. Well, we run out of usage within 1-2 wks of the beginning with Exede and pay more than Hughes but not run out till the last wk with Hughes. I will not recommend this internet service to anyone and everyone I kno that has Exede want to also switch.

Horrible Customer Service

I called about slow downloads (0.5 MB) and they gave me a local phone no. to call. I called, was wrong number. Called back, waited 20 min on hold with horrible hold music. Finally got someone who told me it would be 2-3 days before someone would be available and to CALL BACK. I suggested they call me when they had someone but he said they could not. Apparently, they do not care. The contract guarantees nothing, provides large penalties for terminating early, and prevents class action law suites.

Horrible connection. Super slow. Data cap. They expect you to climb on the roof and uninstall their box off the satellite and return it otherwise they charge you 300$ or 95$ for a tech to come out and disconnect it. Such BS.

False advertising speeds

They should file a class action suit against this company like they did Time Warner Cable. We would be delighted with the "measly" 50mbps twc customers get while promised higher. We pay for 12mbps, at best before cap we get 1.3mbps, after midnight when data doesn't apply we get up to 2mbps though. It's supposed to be faster before midnight unless over the cap. We have 5 Internet users here, all avoiding usage except 12-5am at all costs yet we use our 15gb in a week. We have no cell service here and don't turn on computers til midnight until over the cap to try to extend it and still goes toooo fast. We tried getting Hughes net first but they never showed up and then charged our cc for 2 months of service before we got that fixed, and we'really still begging cable to come service 5he 10 houses and water treatment plant in the 1 mile of road from here to where cable stops. Our contract runs out next month so no way will we try an overpriced higher data package when we don't even get a quarter what we pay for now. Once we do go over the cap ever 10-15 times someone loads a webpage...or anything 3lse...we get the overage notification and can't even use the back button. Highly annoying especially 3 weeks out of the month. No one here seems to be getting remotely what they're paying for just like us, I have NEVER even for an instant seen our speeds hit 2.50mbps any time of the day or night, yet we're paying for 12, and over the cap is still supposed to be 1-5mbps. Tested speed a few ago, not over cap, and weren't even getting 56k. With the latency of satellite we'd be better off with dialup which has no data cap, if half of us didn't stay up all night to use the 12-5 unmetered period. That's bad when it's only halfway worth having the Internet if willing to stay up til 5am and then it's a fifth the speed of the slowest cable package out there.

Don't sign

Please do not sign up for Exede! Save the headache of incredibly slow speeds, poor customer service, and very high prices. We pay the highest amount they offer (the highest data cap & speed), but typically suffer speeds of under 1mpbs, and our service is rated for 25. A rep on the phone troubleshooting tonight actually asked me if an iMac was an "i device" and if I used Internet Explorer as my browser. Their typical answer is to reboot our modem or that one television streaming a show on Netflix is too much for their service. It's not worth the bother to call customer service when they're only trying to help, but are not backed up by a company who seems to care about anything more than signing people up for long term contracts. I'll be on the phone again tomorrow with wire providers begging and pleading for them to install the lines so we can rid ourselves of this two year albatross.

time to find another internet provider

Somehow I used up my data plan in eight days. I am not a gamer. Nor do I watch Netflix or Hulu. The first customer service rep talked over me repeatedly. I requested a manager/supervisor twice. The first time he refused to get one. The second time he stated a manager would call me back within 24 hours. When I questioned him on the 24 hour call back he just went by his script and finally hung up on me.

My second call tonight was much more productive but when I asked about my data usage she stated their system went down.

I was going to let this go but they cut off my internet access. So another call and when I requested documentation of my data usage I was told they could only access my account and read me my usage. I am sorry that is a big pile of crap.

I am a lazy customer but when a company starts horsing around to the point where I am this angry I will find another provider of that service. I have been a customer of eight years ... paying high rates for slow service ... and this is how they treat me ... imagine how they treat new customers.

Worst Internet Company

Apr 03, 2017 by Kevin Murillo

My family and i moved to a rural secluded area and thought the only internet for wifi available was exede. We got it bundled with direct tv for somewhere around 18 or 26 gb a month. When exede came to install their service, the internet slowed down like crazy less than 12 hrs of usage. They tried to over me extra 10 gb a month but for what if its going to be gone in an hour or so! Nobody here does online gaming so we dont use excessive amount of data here. I tried to cancel and they are charging me $360 to cancel. In less than one day I realized I wasted my time and money with this company. I looked everywhere online and found this website just so I can write my review about it. Dont make the same mistake I did. I ended up getting a t mobile hotspot for my home. I have metro pcs and when i used hotspot for my wife's phone, we tested both my hotspot speed and exede's speed mbps and her hotspot was much faster! Exede may be the "fastest" satellite internet provider but it is still one of the worst internet providers, period.

Extremely Slow and poor customer service

DO NOT sign a contact with this company!! I am an online student and rely heavily on my internet. I have the unlimited 25 mbps package and it is still like using dial up. I have called several times complaining about the speed and they always keep me on the phone troubleshooting for 3+ hours. They find a fix that works at the moment but not for long and we are back to square one. They will not let me out of the contract even though they cannot meet my needs. They are trained to NEVER let anyone out of the contract. THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST internet company. DO NOT USE them unless you are out in the middle of nowhere and they are YOUR ONLY OPTION. After all they have put me through, it is worth the $15 per month they are going to charge me for the remainder of the contract just to get rid of them.

Yikes

Well, I live in a rural area so I was really excited to get satellite internet. I went over our potential usage and didn't skimp on our usage - it was estimated that I would need the 30GB package. Expensive, but ok. They forget to tell you that if you have satellite tv, how many GB's you use if you record shows, etc. I basically have 15 days of great internet (when it works, it's great) and then I have another 15 days of throttled internet. So, I'm paying $160 for 15 days of fast internet and then the rest of the days, our service drops all the time, which triggers our phones to use data, and the complaints go on from there. It's just way too expensive but I will say that the installers were SO nice and when it works, it works well.

This whole service is a joke. I started out with a cheaper plan and quickly had to upgrade. The speed was so slow we couldnt watch a movie even if we still had data to use. Called several times and complained and nothing was done. Then I upgraded to the Fastest and biggest plan plus paid additional money per month for the faster service which required a new modem. now im around 120 a month for internet. They turned the old modem off and left me for a week without internet till i got the new one. No credit applied.. Then after several calls over a few months for speeds at a whopping 1 mbps to 3 mbps I had enough. It wasnt worth having. I disconnected the modem before my next billing cycle ended in the meantime they took out a payment of $109 out of my account i called to cancel 3 days into my new cycle and they wont credit me for that whole month plus i had to pay for early termination fee. They said they couldnt remove it with out running a test. They had already run several tests in the months that I had called and complained for that slow of a speed and I was told it is what it is. So to top this off I switched to dish network internet and tv. I specifically asked dish if they had anything to do with exede and they told me NO!! Liars!!!!! I get my new dish stuff installed and what do you know slow speeds. Had tech come out and look at it. I look at the modem and what do you know it says Viasat the same second company name exede has... Its the same through dish network now im stuck again. I now have an attorney and I will be taking them to court for several different things along with dish tv. I had tried to work it out with exede but they said they didnt care..

1.2 5.0 1231 1231 having seriouse speed issues, complained to company they schedualed a technician to come gave a 3 hour window for the tech to be there, waited the 3 hours then called and they said Exede broadband internet
