ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

I have nothing good to say about this company. Normally I am very understanding, but after my experience with exede, I would never recommend this service to anyone. We were relocating from one building to another on the same piece of property. When I initially made the call to set my services up, I was told to sign up for easy care to save myself the installation fee.the technician called me back saying that I was misinformed, and had to call exede back. When I did, I was transferred to their moving department where I was told I would have to sign up for a new two year activation, or pay the installation fee. Since I didn't not want more time with this company than I already had since their services were not great to begin with, I called back to ensure this was correct information. The person that I spoke with told me a completely different story, that I would not need a new two year activation nor would I need to pay tells installation fee. They set me up with an appointment which the technician cancelled. The next available time I could not do, so I called the company to reschedule. Everything was set on their end and they told me the technician was notified to not show up, yet the technician showed up regardless, even though I scheduled a different time. On that date, the technician did not show. I called exede just to make sure I had the right time, and the customer service representative told me something completely different and that they were unsure about my services. I was connected to a supervisor, and explained the situation. I was told I would get the relocation without a problem, and scheduled me for today. The technician never showed up again. I called back, and explained what had happened and asked what was going on, which this representative did not know what was going on. I had to call another supervisor and explain all over, to which I was told a different story. Save yourself the headache and find a different service. Way too much confusion, and absolutely no communication between employees.

If there were a lower review I would give it. Salesman did not tell me about $10/month rental. He said the installation was free and it was mounted on the soffit for $150. Suppose to be 12 mbps and it is often below 1 mbps. I can't stream videos to watch. Cooperate says on their end everything shows 12 mbps. So basically calling us a liar. Worst internet service EVER. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. One call wish I had never made. I have not encountered a company this deceitful in a long time. Dashes your views on humanity and character. And once you reach you 12 mb limit, they cut you down. What will that mean for us? .0071 mbps? Will will end this contract if we have to go through a lawyer. DISHONEST

Poor value, uncompetitive service

My understanding is that exede is good as far as satellite ISP go. Itis the whole satellite ISP business that should not exist. We use exede at a lakehouse & are mainly there in the summer.

We have the liberty 18 package for $112/month. We discovered that the Liberty 18 package lasts for about 3 hours (our kids like Netflix & video), then reverts to a circa 1997 modem. So, we ended up using my iPhone as a hotspot since it is faster and gives you more bandwidth for free.

Basically, we realized that an iPhone hot spot is better/faster/cheaper than Exede and you don't have to "lease" an unsightly satellite dish or rely on a technician for service issues.

In summary, exede is the least bad option if you live completely off the grid with no cell service. For everything else, an iPhone hotspot is markedly better, assuming you cannot get DSL or conventional broadband.

Excede Scammers

I called to have showtime turned off and the customer service rep told me that he could get me a faster internet service than the one I currently have, I ask him if there was a contract with Excede and he told me no. So, I got the service it was way too slow so I canceled the next morning. Excede took $364 out of my account for early termination when I was told there was no contract, even when I called to cancel I wasn't told that there would be money taken out of my acctount. They were not willing to help me in any way. So I paid $364 for something that I'm not even using. Liars, scammers, who don't care about their customers or their reputation.

Slow speed .96 mbps download speed when where paying for 12. Your technical department had me do the same thing 10 times to check the speed and the only answer that is given is there is a lot of usage and there is nothing we can do. I am not paying for excuses and you should be able to handle the usage. I am angry about the bad service and the people are robotic. After spending 2 hours on the phone with no results maybe I have to look for a new provider

Horrible connection and customer service

Mar 20, 2017 by Jenelle Sharpley

Connection speed is not even close to what they told me when I signed up and ended up being unusable for my internet job. I only used it for my iPhone. When I canceled service because I was moving, they refused to credit me for the portion of the month (3 and a half weeks) that I was unable to use. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

GET BUNDLED

Mar 19, 2017 by Mark

Sold to my neighbor as part of a DirecTV bundle... No one told them about the no grace period 24 month contract, or the fact that VOIP may or may not work at all.. Called to cancel DirecTV. They worked with me on that part... but...Exede refused to cancel without charging a $360 fee.. oh well cancelled anyway and will take this up with the credit card company.. Great policy NOT.. Buyer Beware

NEVER USE EXEDE

Mar 18, 2017 by Kelly

Exede did what they called a "software update" last month and now the data that used to last us almost all month lasts 48hrs. They are what they call tightening down on their usage. Well if they were willing to release customers from their contracts then this would be their problem but because they have now changed our service rendering it useless to us we now had to find another provider and pay their early termination fee. It is absolutely terrible customer service to change their services and tell customers too bad. If they were making a mistake on their end with data usage and wanted to fix it then they should release everyone in contract with no fee when the service is no longer compatible. If you are in the NW I highly recommend Online NW if you can get it.

Data Vanished

Mar 17, 2017 by Kurt Lillibridge

We installed Hughes when we moved into our home six months ago. We always ran out of data even though we had the best plan available and needed an alternative. Exede sales people told me over the phone the data was unlimited and was much faster than Hughes net. We would be able to stream video and play games no problem. The first night of Exede we binge watched a Netflix series until it started buffering to the point of being unwatchable. Our speed had slowed to a crawl and it wasn't until I received my first statement that I saw we had only 10 GB per month of data. We were throttled so we upped the data but it got worse. I took everything off of exede except one desktop pc and put it all back on Hughes and my AT&T 1.8 mbps DSL. Overnight over 10 GB of data bled off into space or something and I was on the freedom at a speed of my DSL but with latency. When I complained they told me that I used the data and nothing would be done. I got my return box today. I have to pay $300 for early termination but that saves me 22 more months of $100+ payments for a SAT ISP that can't beat a DSL. I am keeping Hughes even though it is not great, it is far superior to Exede in my experience. Two months in and I am glad to get rid of Exede. Do not bother folks.

Pointless service

Mar 17, 2017 by Michaela Lynch

Had this terrible service for about six months. The past week it's worked maybe two days. Mysteriously, it shows we somehow used up our data allotment in ONE WEEKEND. We always lasted almost a month up to this point. Now that I see the other reviews I think I understand. This ISP is worthless as there is no service. Internet has been out for over twelve consecutive hours right now, with clear weather. Since we somehow ran through all our data the first three days of our billing cycle, I imagine the rest of the month will look like this. Might as well use nothing, since nothing is what I'm getting.

1.2 5.0 1231 1231 having seriouse speed issues, complained to company they schedualed a technician to come gave a 3 hour window for the tech to be there, waited the 3 hours then called and they said Exede broadband internet
