ViaSat Exede broadband internet Exede is a satellite internet service provided by parent company ViaSat. The service was launched in 2012 when the ViaSat-1 satellite was put into service. Before Exede, ViaSat offered WildBlue on an older Telesat Anik F2 satellite. In general Exede's real world performance is over 10x faster than WildBlue's. The new ViaSat-2 satellite is scheduled to be put into service later this year (2016). SKU UPC Model

Do not fall into this trap! I have had service for only a couple days and want to disconnect, they tell me they will charge me $350 to break the contract. The service is terrible, no online gaming, no streaming movies, and your limited to the amount you can use! For that price! It is a joke!!!! I'm on hold with them as we speak, they are doing people wrong and need to hear about it!

We were stuck with this internet service through DirecTV when we moved to a country home that has no other internet provider unless we pay to have underground cables put in and our house wired. We were told by Directv that we could have a 2 week trial. At 2 weeks we attempted to cancel due to the fact that in less than 2 DAYS they "restricted our data". They refused to cancel saying we misunderstood and are signed up for a 2 year contract. At $65/month just for internet we should be able to do more then briefly browse and use social media. This internet service provider is a poor business to deal with and to be stuck using. We do not watch any movies online, very rarely play online games, just try to run our home business and allow our children to do homework!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS INTERNET!!!!

Feb 14, 2015 by Darlene Hicks

Worst internet service ever! I wish I had done SOME research on this company first! It would have saved me so much lost time and money. I had absolutely no service during certain hours, usually at night, and the customer service representatives would never admit that the problem was with their internet. An installer that came to my home even went so far as to tell me that the problem was with my computer! Receiving any type of refund is hard and when turning back in the equipment, you're expected to climb on the side of the roof of your house yourself and get an object down from the satellite dish and mail it back. Or you could have a technician do it for you for $250.00. This company is a joke!!!!

What s Joke!

We switched to Excede internet to try to save on costs from our cable internet company. This has been the worst experience with the internet I have had since dial up. We have had constant problems and every time I call to complain I sat on hold for about a half hour and then the representative simply tells me to reboot everything and that it looks like it is working from her computer (wherever she may be). I have asked for a technician to come out and was informed that I would have to pay a $95 service fee. What is the point of paying for an internet service that doesn't work half of the time!!!

Be prepared to pay for services for a half month usage

Feb 14, 2015 by Debbie

I only have Internet 10 days of the month. I purchased from a Directv sales person was completely mislead about all, now I must pay $345 to get out of contract.Dont get ...dial up is better than this and that's not saying much!

fraudulent

Where do I begin? I have NEVER dealt with a bunch of idiots until signing on with with Excede. Thanks Direct TV for pretty much forcing me into a contract with them as they stated they are the only ones that service my area. Since day ONE, the installer couldn't even get it to work right. I called several times to Direct TV since they sold me this JUNK. They advised me that I needed to get a better wireless router. Well, 2 more were bought as the same great excuse of " you need a better router"! So finally, I bought the best one that money could by. (I'm 2 months into paying for a service that I am unable to use). Many phone calls made to EXCEDE at this point due to Direct TV telling me that they had no idea what to do at this point!! Well, at this point I'm 235 days of service that quote Excede stated I have been "offline" for those amount of days. The lady that I finally talked to again in a heated conversation said she would send someone out right away to get this corrected. I'm about 250 days now with no service at this point. (Let's remember, my account still being debited) so the third guy comes out and he starts unplugging stuff and he couldn't even hook up the DVD player back up that he unhooked! REALLY?
So, the next call back to this worthless company I get a really nice lady, "Sonny" and she said that they I was in the process of a ! 599.00 so, by this point I'm excited. She said I would have it by Feb 21st. So, I called back on Feb 1 and I get " Linda" and she tells me that it was denied due no notes where I have ever called. Are you freaking kidding me? She even told me, "I don't care, lady". So after hours of demanding to speak with a cooperate office And they tell me that they do not take phone calls nor do they respond! Well, on to the BBB, I GO! Beware of this junk company!

Think Twice About Using

Feb 12, 2015 by BBreding

Ditto on all the previous comments regarding NOT to use this service. Service reps, supervisors, managers are useless if they even exist. Will be proactive now by writing to the BBB, FCC, and if a corporate office can be found or even exists, I'll be calling/writing them. One person did mention being proactive and he/she is correct. You can complain all you want but unless you really research and do something, your words mean nothing other than spewing off your frustrations to no avail. Makes you feel better but doesn't accomplish end results. I fought another company years ago by doing the above mentioned and received restitution and compensation and will do so now. I noticed no one has posted corporate adddresses/names, phones numbers, etc. Get serious!!

Terrible company, rip off artists

Feb 11, 2015 by Nick Behre

I cancelled on December 16 was told no retroactive refund for the rest of the month, call corporate to ask for refunds. I said cancel anyway and I will take it up with corporate (which I never did because I had no time to and thought it was over and that they could just have my 70 dollars). I noticed the full monthly charge the next month and called January 8th to cancel again and to complain about the new charges. The representative told me she would take care of it and get my charges reversed. February 10 I noticed that I did not recieve a credit yet so I called them the next day to ask why I was still being billed. They said I never cancelled in December and that they rejected my request for refunds even though I did not even live at that address. I asked for a supervisor and I got Ben the jerk who did not want to help me at all he just wanted to repeat what the other person said and that I would not be getting anything back from them. I then called Chase visa to register a complaint about fraudulant charges by this horrible company. They say they will try to help me with this so they gave me a temporary credit until Exede has a chance to respond... I have never been treated this unfairly and this badly by a large company before. Please consider not ever going with this company. They will rip you off when they can!

I'm joining the crowd

I blame this DirecTly on DirecTv. I was on the phone with a D-T rep changing my programming and, since i was paying $90 to Eatel for my wire line internet (which included keeping my phone for incoming calls, because if I dropped the phone they would raise my rates) and the D-T guy told me the Exede would be about $60 for a year and D-T would credit my account with $10 a month for a year. So it looks like I was going to save $40 a month which sounds good if you're on SS. The installation was professionally done and everything was cool. Download was OK, upload was a little slow, but if you uploaded an e-mail with 4 or 5 pictures, you could watch a little news, drink a beer, and get back to it. OK, if you're retired. Then 8 or 10 days into it, I got an e-mail that our Exede (properly named!!) had exceeded 70% of our limit. So, I called and the lady I talked to looked up our usage. My wife had gotten hooked on on-line jigsaw puzzles,so I though maybe that was the problem. Anyway she said almost all the usage came on one day. I thought it was some kind of a fluke and she said our normal days were OK. We hadn't even watched any Netflix movies this month. Then last Saturday we got another e-mail, saying we had exceeded (there's that word again!!)our limit of 20 gigs. My 14 year old granddaughter had spent the night and turns out she was using Instagram and, I guess, they charged the same amount for them as for movies. So I looked up usage on their website and found they charge 1 mb/s for vides. Dosn't sound too bad for an old codger whose first computer had only one gigabyte which I thought was more than anyone would ever need. Then I did the math. One mb/s turns into 60 mb/min which, times 60 minutes an hour equals 3,600 Mb -- better known as 3.6 gigabytes. So 3 2 hour movies on Netflix exceeds Exede's limit -- and the 20 G was for 6 months, then drops to 10, which would cut you off in the middle of your 2nd Netflix movie. So it was easy for the granddaughter to exceed Exede's limit in about 5 hours of Instagram. I called to cancel and the gal tried to talk me out of it informing me I had signed on for two years and my penalty for droppin out would be $15 a month for 23 months - $345. I told her no way. She was nice enough (probably used to this), but said that't the way it is. I immediately called my credit card company's dispute department and they said they would try to dispute it, but I had to call them after it appeared on my bill. I had called D-T before I called Exede and they told me they couldn't do anything about, but, of course, they were going to stop the $10 a month credit. They say a man is known by the company he keeps. It's possible a company is known by the company it keeps also. A black eye for DirecTv
