It Sucks

Jun 15, 2016 by Robert Dallons

I was enticed to switch from Excede to Hughes as part of a Dish Network bundle. After switching, found that I could no longer take on-line college courses as Hughes throttles video feeds. Also, Skype communications with my parents stopped working (again, throttled video). The great Gen4 speeds promised just are not there. Can't wait for my two years to finish so I can switch back.

Hughesnet is the worst!!

Jun 09, 2016 by Stephen Capistrant

This has to be the worst service I have ever had. You can not go from one page to the next with out constant errors. We would drop them right not but they charge tons for getting out early. We are all set to go back to fricking dial up just to get rid of this crap!! Do not even consider using them, stay away.

Do Not Get This Is A Scam

Jun 06, 2016 by Zach

The service is such crap. I am stuck in this for 2 years total and it sucks. It costs around $600 to cancel plus the cost of months you have left in your contract. Total waste of money you would be better off with a phone with a 2G service I mean really this is TERRIBLE for wifi. Very disappointed and I would recommend to a person i hate. Thats how bad it is.

Worst Customer Service

Jun 02, 2016 by Mrs Perry

After having the highest speed package for 2 weeks, the speed significantly dropped. It almost felt like we were on dial up. Since we knew that we were already on the highest package, there was no reason for us to call and ask for assistance. We work from home and we could not take a chance on the speed dropping any further so we switched the service. When we called customer service we were told that we owed a bill of 200 and something dollars and that our termination fee was 600 and something dollars. We were told had we cancelled 4 days prior, we would not have been charged a fee. When I initially signed up, I was told that the termination fee was somewhere between $120 and $160(I cant remember the exact amount because I was ok paying the amount)and thats what I was expecting to have to pay. When the representative told me $641 termination I was stunned. After telling me how long they've been in business and how I hadnt called to complain while I had the service and then putting the supervisor on the phone for them to grill me and to ask me why I hadnt called other than to sign up, I was informed that the card that I had used to sign up would be charged at the end of the billing cycle. Not only is the internet slow, but the customer service sucks!! Hughesnet needs to retrain its people...I'm very disappointed, disgusted and frustrated. The Better Business Bureau will be hearing from me.

Worst EVER!

Only stoop to signing on to Hughes.net if you live in the boonies and simply have no other choice.

Run Don't Walk away from Hughesnet

May 25, 2016 by Jack A Walder

We have had Hughesnet for 4 years. After 2 years of dealing with the original versions inability to work we were sold on the Gen 4 to solve all our problems. Not. This company has terrible service and even worse customer service. For years our data mysteriously disappeared when we were not even using the internet. We did fix that by putting the modem on a switch so we could cut if off when we were not using it. Problem solved but the data is no good if you can't use it. For the last 4 weeks every time we went to use the internet to stream a show on Netflix it didn't work. Yesterday a Hughesnet tech came to my house after arguing with people not from the United States for 2 hours. He spent 5 min there and said everything was perfect. We cancelled our service yesterday and have decided to learn to read again.

Worst customer service

Stopped using Hughes.net, sent equipment back, was still charged. They admitted the error was on their part and I still had to call 4 times to get them to process credit to my account. Spoke with a customer service rep names JR, he was the rudest person I have had to deal with. Will tell anyone I know not to use Hughes.net

I Should Have Read the Reviews!

May 14, 2016 by B Hetzer

I wish I had read the reviews before switching to HughesNet. Every review I have read is true of my experience. HughesNet high speed internet is reminiscent of dial-up. Please do no make the mistake that I did! I will mark one star if I have to in order to submit this review, but my actual rating would be in the negative.

This corporation is total trash

May 09, 2016 by nathan mckenzie

HughesNet policies are borderline fraudulent. 50G of data between the hours of 2am and 8am but only 10g for the rest of the day. You know, when people actually use the internet. I used my 10g \"anytime\" data in the first 3 days of service. Now the connection has been purposely slowed to the point where the internet is no longer capable of merely playing a youtube commercial. This is a policy that blatantly says \"f%! you\" to the customers and these CEO\'s know it. This corporation needs to be chased out of the marketplace and it\'s leadership banished to Afghanistan.

DO NOT USE

May 05, 2016 by Allen

If you have any other choice then Hughes I advise you use it. They will tell you front, if you suspend your service prior to your 2 year service contract is up it will cost you $400.00. What they don't tell you is that if you suspend it due to it not working it still will cost you $400.00.
I went into the agreement with them telling me how great their service is. Had it for a total of 4 months and it may have worked 1-1/2 months total. I heard excuses from everything like there is a storm in Texas and the service is out. I live in North Carolina. Unbelievable!! DO NOT USE!!!

1.1 5.0 418 418 Was with Hughesnet for a total of 5 years. First 2 years by contract. Last 3, month to month. When I cancelled the service to go to Starlink, they were unwilling to prorate the Hughesnet Gen4 Satellite Internet
