Hughesnet Hughesnet Gen4 Satellite Internet SKU UPC Model

It sucks, plain & simple. Worst internet provider EMAIL EVER!!! They promissed us high speeds with their Gen-4 "military technology", told us we would be a better to stream videos, watch Netflix, etc. What a crock! Even very short YouTube videos take forever to load and continuously stop and start during play. This company should be sued for falsely advertising, like Straight Talk wireless was sued for basically the same thing. I keep calling local providers to check and see if they have internet (at this point even old-fashioned dialup would be better). As soon as I find another option or move to another area, I am done with HughesNet forever, and will never recommend it to anyone! If only I could give themail a minus rating...

Have had this service restored less than 1 month ago. Within 2 days used up my data, watching Walking Dead. Have been buying data and still can\'t watch one interrupted episode. You suck, Hugh\'s net

hign speed internet HA HA!

My only choice for internet is Hughes. Don't believe the part about "high speed". You will never be able to use Netflix, amazon video, or any down load video stream. I pay the most you can pay for residential service...believe me...I would cancel in a heartbeat if I could.

Do not get Hughesnet!!!

The installer was nice but the data plan is unusable.
They want you to buy tokens on increase data plans, but one movie takes 3-4 GB out of 5, 10, or 15 GB monthly plans. It would cost about $300-500 a month to get a reasonable amount of data.
I cannot use Dropbox, Netflix, Hulu, or stream movies on DirecTV.
If someone starts a lawsuit against them, count me in!

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!

THIS IS THE WORST INTERNET I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! It's EXLENSIVE AND DOES NOT WORK AT ALL!!!!! They go off GB and you watch one video and that's it out of data!!!!! Can't do classes, homework, or anything!!!! The customer service is awful, never helpful!!!! And the they don't tell you that you are suppose to take a piece off the Satellite in case you move and then charge you outrageous amount of money for their lack of information!!!!! Never go with this company!!!!

Worst experience ever

Does not even rate 1 star. They basically knowingly sold me service that doesn\'t suit my needs. Been calling them before the 30 days they have admitted to the fact they sold me service that is useless for streaming movies. I don\'t have alot of money and Hughes net has totally taken advantage of me. 400 dollars to cancel! Wheres there accountability!!

Do not use them!!

(A) Same as most recent reviews in that we were not told we needed to bring radio on satellite from location we moved from, only the modem. First it took 3 weeks and a 2nd phone call for them to send just the box to return the modem. However, the radio was a completely different story. When I called the 2nd time regarding the modem box, the rep informed me they needed the radio returned or charged $200 for it. After complaining we were not told that or we would have, they sent out a tech -- which was a third party from ANOTHER STATE!! After again complaining and threatening 'further action' on our part, they waived the 'all of a sudden' $100 radio fee to send tech out.. Again contacting them, they insisted they needed the radio, there would be a fee to send another tech out -- BUT THEY SENT THE WRONG 3rd party company to pick it up in the first place! After the rep explained 3 times I asked for supervisor. The supervisor resolved the issue to our satisfaction.

(B) We kept losing connection constantly;
(C) Had to use WiFi on phone because we could not play games on FB;
(D) We could not stream movies on Netflix.

I would have given them 1 star except for the fact they resolved the radio issue, which I gave them 1 star for.

I don't know why there hasn't been a class action suit against them because of their shoddy business practices, unusable internet service AND false advertising, specifically their most recent commercial indicating they are "#1 internet service in the country." HUH? Maybe in 1 square mile in bum-blank Egypt.

Just don't do it

They get zero stars from me. I live in an area where cable is not available, but Internet at home is a requirement for my job. At the time, the only satellite option was HughesNet, so I had no choice. Everything, from sign-up, installation, connection reliability, customer service, technology - it is ALL terrible. Save yourself the aggravation and select any other provider. I dropped them as soon as DishNet became available in my area.

Don't ever sign up with Hugesnet

The sales rep told us that after using the data allowance it will throttle down into "Smart Browsing" which would go down to 2-5 mbs instead of the 20 mbs. I was totally ok with that as with this speed of 2-5 mbs you can still watch Youtube or Netflix videos without a problem. But after signing up for 24 months it turned out that their "Smart Browsing" is worse than dial up and all we were getting was 0.14 mbs. This kind of speed is absolutely unacceptable and we feel very deceived and are victims of "bait and switch". The tech support guys very actually very nice and when we called in they offered us an additional 5 GB of bonus data allowance. It all sounded good at first. But still, we ran out of our allowance every time before half of the month was even over and went down to the low speed smart browsing again. Webpages would keep freezing up and not even talking about short YouTube videos. A 2 minute video would load for 20 minutes or more. We decided to pay the penalty of (in our case) $340 to just get out of this contract. I hope people read this before they sign up. Unfortunately, we did not and had to learn the hard way.

Hughesnet is no good!

NEVER BUY Hughes internet!!! They just ripped me off for over $1000. I purchased the equipment and got set up. I thought I was good to go. About a month into the service we noticed our data was disappearing even when we were not using it. Contacted support and they were no help. They said there is nothing wrong. Went to cancel about a month and a half into our contract and they charged me $620 just to cancel my service! I have never seen a company that will rip you off like this company will. They do not care about customer service, all they want to do is get you signed up and then they take your money and there is nothing you can do about it!! I haven\'t been this angry in a long time!!!! Do NOT sign up for their services!!!!!!

1.1 5.0 418 418 Was with Hughesnet for a total of 5 years. First 2 years by contract. Last 3, month to month. When I cancelled the service to go to Starlink, they were unwilling to prorate the Hughesnet Gen4 Satellite Internet
