Dish Support Lacks

Feb 04, 2016 by Jerry Burgess

Terrible service/support. Start TV #2; No signal from Super Joey (receiver). Multiple Joey resets may provide picture, but no sound. After multiple conversations, 2 replacement units, no solution as yet, but works intermittently. Also, Dish sent me 2 certificates for free movie purchase. Ordered one online; never received. Customer support only says "You have 1 certificate left." Totally no help; got tired of runaround and gave up. Like Dish when it works, but tired of getting passed between obviously offshore service people with no solutions. I'm actively shopping for an alternative. Bill just went up again!

EX Long Time Loyal Customer

Feb 03, 2016 by gail smith

I am only writing this review in hopes that management stops to take a look and see why customers that have been with them for years are really leaving, poor customer service!

I am located in Fort Payne al. My account is set to auto pay. The first of last month I got a notice in email that my payment did not go through. I contacted dish right away and was told that my expiration had dropped off for whatever reason out of their system their error and said it was fixed and not to worry with it after he put it back in. So I did not think another thing about it, I assumed he pushed it on through, until I got notice in the snail mail a few weeks later..late charge and double payment...I was like no way..so I call, and tell them, they were supposed to take care of this already..they apologized gave me a 30 dollar credit, assured me again that not to worry, he took of the late charge, said the fist guy should of ran it ran it immediately though, not sure why he didn\'t? And that is why the late charge came up. he told he told me told me both charges minus the late charge would be due on the 2nd and would come out on auto pay and asked if that was OK..and I said sure...this is after over and hour on the phone again.(I\'m going into overage here with Verizon at 45 cents a minute for only the second time in 30 years during this)..Fast forward a few days later..notice pops up on TV..your TV will shut down in 48 hours if bill is not paid..you\'ve..got to be kidding me..I call again a few days later, and I tell them if they turn of my TV, it will not be coming back on, I am tired of dealing with them...this is insane, I should not have to call three times to fix a problem that should of been fixed the first time I called. I can\'t tell you how many years I\'ve been with Dish either..

Cost went up again. Way too high for a good family and all repeated shows constantly anyway

Back in 2014 they ran a promotion that if you refer 3 people that get the Hopper then you get a free
PS4. well I referred 10 people that got the Hopper within the time frame of the promotion and I never
got it. I called them every single month since then and they keep saying they are going to look into
and submit ticket so it can be researched and nothing has happened. I did not get what I earned from
the promotion. Also once I had 10 people referred I had 4 more that wanted get TV. so I called in and
asked if I get anything for those extra 4 people that I referred. they said no. so I told them that I was
just going to tell them to go to Direct TV (which looking back I should have just sent them there)
because my brother had direct TV and he would benefit from those 4 referrals. so the sales person
from Dish said hold on one second. he put me on hold and talked to his manager. then he got back
on the phone and said we can send you a 50 dollar gift card for each of you referrals. so I said great.
and i confirmed that it would be 50 dollars for each on so that would be a total of 200 dollars. and the
sales person said yes. so that is a total so with a new PS4 that goes for 350 + the 200 in Visa Gift
cards that they promised me I got screwed out 550 dollars that they told me I would get. this is what
you get I guess with Dish network. it is sad. I have been calling every month and waiting for there
calls to call me back like they say but nothing ever gets done about it. it has been over a year since
they told me these things. I have tried to settle this with them but they wont do it.

customer service sucks

Jan 12, 2016 by greg

I contacted dish about pricing. Talked to a third party i found out later. I talked to her about 10 to 15 mins and told her what i was looking for then handed the phone to my girlfriend so she can explain what channels she wanted. After getting the system hooked up we found the package that we asked for was not what we have. We got over 62 channels of home shopping network. I then called the comapny and asked them what was going on and they explained to me that i got the cheapest package i stated to Miss Taylor that this isnt what i signed up for and she stated that she can pull the recording of the sales agent and she what what was told. A few days later Miss Taylor called me back and stated to me that i didnt ask for any channels and that is what we ordered. Miss Taylor would cut me off when i would speak and would not let me get a word in edge wise. I tried to tell her that she didnt hear the hole phone call because the lady asked me what i was looking for and what my girlfriend was looking for. after i talked to the sales lady i turned over the phone to my girl friend because she wanted spanish channels and i couldnt pernonce then correctly. The only recording that Miss Taylor stated was about 2 mins with me on the phone and the rest of the time with my girlfriend. No i have to ask who in there right mind would except 62 channels of home shopping network and not get any of his channels and pay over 123.00 a month. someoneneeds to fix the problem with Dish network because all thery are doing is tring to bully there customers in paying for something that dont want.....

Junk Programming too many repeating

Jan 08, 2016 by Jim

NOT WORTH THE MONEY PAID $1560.00 yearly. $4,680 in three years Constantly searching several channels for a movie I haven,t seen. The movie channels repeat too much and are addition charge. It seems they want you too order movies for an extra charge. Better off going sprint cell service unlimited data also paying $8.00 monthly NetFlex streaming to Apple/TV device connected to TV. Local channels are free and can be received with a boosted antenna. Satellite TV Monopolized by two. It's only a matter of time when advertise businesses realize there costs then return to c-band FTA - Free To Air - Satellite. It has been a Frustrating three years. Also the reality shows get old and repeat repeat junk junk junk....... Proceed with caution before your locked into an ever frustrating long contract. DON'T SAY I DIDN'T INFORM YAH

Hopper search is broken!

Jan 01, 2016 by Jim Copley

The Hopper search feature has been broken for 213 days as of today (according to advance support technician Alesha ID = 92E.

Many front line support techs are not aware of the issue or let on that they are not. It is a known issue with a work around of pressing the blue remote button while in search to close the keyboard, then pressing it again to show the keyboard. That works about half the time. Otherwise random letters on the search keypad turn blue and cannot be selected.

There was suppose to be a software update on December 31, 2015. That did not happen. Now, the next estimated fix date is May 16th, but of course there is no guarantee of that fix date either according to dish network supervisors, account specialists and advanced technical support agents.

Are there mailing lists, forums or any other ways that might provide updates and more accurate information about the progress of this technical fix?

payment mistakes

Dec 28, 2015 by Rodney

You pay your bills on time and when Dish makes the mistake of crediting someone else's account with your payment, they suspend yours even when admitting it was their mistake. But yet, they won't turn the cable back on for another 24 to 72 hours until they work out their issue. Will go without cable for a week when it's all done with and yet I will see a full bill the next payment i'm sure. Just remove the suspension off the account when the customer did nothing wrong. Second time this has happened. Switching to DirecTV when the contract is up.

Here\'s how DISH is...

Dec 12, 2015 by EJ

So we're moving and need to cancel our service. I call customer service and get a woman who only seems to know how to read a script. I give her the moving date and she schedules the service to end then. Makes sense, right. Then she tells me the boxes they ship for returning the equipment take 5 to 7 business days to arrive AFTER the cancellation date. Duh! I won't be living here anymore. I ask her to send the boxes now, and she claims she can't do that because the shipping date is triggered automatically by the cancellation date (remember, she knew my moving date from the beginning of the conversation, but it did not occur to her that she would be sending boxes to an empty house). I was therefore forced to cancel my service two weeks early in order to ensure the return shipping boxes arrive in time. That's two week I go with out TV and two weeks of lost revenue for DISH. Brilliant!

1.2 5.0 262 262 My 2nd TV loses the "guide" option about 7 p.m.---every night. I have to unplug and reset that box. Then my main TV shuts off very single night in the wee hours. I use it as a s DISH Network Satellite TV
