Terrible

Mar 17, 2016 by Ashley propps

The service is terrible and the data is gone too quickly. I am buying my contract out soon and will never be back. The tech installers are great help every time and they even told me they would never use Hughes net themselves and they work for the company! Do not fall for their crap! It is such terrible service.

never the truth

Mar 14, 2016 by Steven Brewer

worst company to work for, sales people tell you what you want to hear and promise you anything. service worked 1/2 time and very slow. Date package they set up for me would last 2 wks and that gives you 2 hrs of face book and candy crush for 4 nights a week for one person. that's the package they said would cover me for a month for 2 people. i guess they told me another one. never again

It's all true

The worst ever. Sign up to be driven crazy by the poor service and psychotic tech support. Continue and send your debit/credit information to invite this service provider to be part of your home.

Lousy does not work

Mar 12, 2016 by Randall David Smith

I feel so stupid the sales person never mentioned data usage!! The installer did not finish his work he had arrived at 4:30pm he was scheduled at 2pm! Hughesnet told me since I signed off they were sorry but not their problem, looking for attorney !This is so $$$ for LOUSY INTERNET NOTHING IN WRITING.... JUST WANT OUT!!!

Limited Bandwidth

Mar 06, 2016 by Paul Crumpler

The main problem is that my bandwidth was limited by Hughesnet; my usage was greater than they would provide. Thus, after the first week or so of each month, I could no longer stream a video or send an email. Except between 2am and 8am when I would generally not use the internet. The second problem was the 2 year contract. If the service met my needs, I would be a customer without a contract. And, you do not get to try it before being locked into a contract. I cancelled my service the day the two years were up. I am now using SCS Broadband, it works well and no contract. I hope to be a customer of SCS for a long time. If my only choices were Hughesnet or no internet service, I would choose not have have internet. At least then I would not be paying for a service that I found not worth having.

Worst Internet Provider

Mar 03, 2016 by Cassie

If there were less than a 1 star, HughesNet would qualify. Thankfully my contract just ended and I was able to cancel the service with out horrendous fees. Our internet NEVER worked. I called and had a tech sent out, which cost me $40.00, only for them to not fix it. We moved, they drilled holes in my wall without my permission and still no internet. I called to have them come back out the day after they set it up, and they were going to charge me $40.00 again. We live in the middle of a medium sized city. All of our neighbors have internet, and we've never had an issue with cell service or dish services. This company is a joke. I am contemplating cancelling my Direct TV just for them being in a partnership with HughesNet.

SLOWEST & WORST SERVICE EVER

Feb 26, 2016 by Dama

If you want internet please LOOK EVERYWHERE ELSE but Hughesnet. Let me start by saying that THEY CHARGE FOR EVERYTHING, I literally mean EVERYTHING. If you have an issue with your internet and you request a technitian to come to your house.. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU. If your internet box stops working and they offer to send you one.. THEY CHARGE YOU... These people are literally ALL ABOUT MONEY! once you sign up with their 1 or 2 year contract you are trapped. I was SO IRRITATED AND DISSATISFIED by their service I cancelled and so that they would not charge me the full $400 contact cancellation fee I had to pretend I was leaving to another country and I begged the customer service rep for almost an hour so they brought my cancellation fee down to $250. smh... dumb people.. their service is so slow and expensive.... and please do not belive anyone when they tell you that they are the only service provider in your area. I was told that and that why i got them later after getting them i found out that was a lie.. several other reliable companies like comcast service my area...

horrible customer service

Feb 24, 2016 by scott shupp

When we cancelled are services they sent a box to put the equipment in and mail back. They clamed that they never received and sent it in to collections after 5 conversation with people who could not understand English. Finally spoke with someone who took care of the problem. I would not recommend this service

Ridiculous and terrible

Feb 23, 2016 by aubrie welch

I never thought I'd say this, but I HATE this company. Internet is slow, we cannot watch netflix and sometimes cannot access email. Even worse than the internet is hughesnet voice. We originally had a bundle of phone and internet. Phone was ok until it stopped working. Obviously, we live in a rural area and our cell phones do not work at home, hence the need for the hughes phone. When it stopped working I called from work to report my problem. It took my entire lunch hour on hold to be told that I had to call from the location of the problem for them to troubleshoot. Obviously english not the first language of the customer svc rep. Could never understand that it's impossible to call from location of problem, because phone does not work. 3 calls averaging an hour apiece, finally i got frustrated and cancelled it. I had to pay to send back the nonworking modem, then they tried to charge a cancellation fee, even tho i was cancelling because it did not work and they could not fix it. I had to file a complaint with the BBB; that was supposed to get me out of paying the cancellation fee. Now, a few months later, I've realized they sneakily upped the monthly charge on my cc. I have just called my cc company to block future charges.
I would never ever recommend this company to anyone. If you have absolutely no other option, pay by cc, don't let them have your account info. And watch your bill like a hawk.

1.1 5.0 418 418 Was with Hughesnet for a total of 5 years. First 2 years by contract. Last 3, month to month. When I cancelled the service to go to Starlink, they were unwilling to prorate the Hughesnet Gen4 Satellite Internet
