Pathetic disgusting Service

Feb 03, 2016 by Ellis Rogers

The slowest unreliable service I have ever had. My son can't even use it for his homework projects. customer service manager Steven basically threatened me with a $400.00 cancelation fee. He even had the nerves to thumb his nose at my video choices. Rediculous. Stay away from this service please. Save yourself some anxiety.

The Worst Money You will Ever Spend

Jan 26, 2016 by Kyle Meehan

This is the worst service you will ever pay for. The data packages are tiny and offer no way to use the internet other than check email or send a text on your phone. This is not internet, it is prison internet. Ever been punched in the face repeated? Well I have, but the only thing different with that and using Hughesnet is they ask you to pay them each month after the horrific beat you have just taken. Please do not use this service. It is awful, and they are awful.

Terrible Service

Jan 25, 2016 by Maureen Brightwell

Terrible service, I work from Home once a week and had to stop because it takes for ever to load. We cannot do anything with our internet except maybe a couple minutes a day to check our email and social media accounts. My son cant watch any videos for school and I haven't been about to use our Netflix at home since the first month. When you call to complain they say that can give you more Data for about $50. I'm not going to pay for more data and Crappy service, then to cancel they charge you about $300...the best $300 spent on Hughesnet in the past 8 months!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE!!

Terrible Service and Customer Service

Jan 18, 2016 by Rick Hayward

When I contracted with them 7 weeks ago I was told that I could have two numbers ported over and the installer would handle that. The sales person did record the two numbers I wanted ported. When the installer arrived three weeks ago he advised that I could only port over one number and he was not trained on how to connect the phone service. I had to have my phone technician connect the phone line. The porting department messed around for over a month and then said they could not port the number as it had already been disconnected. I explained to them that the number was active for a month AFTER I made the port request but that seemed to make no difference. Now they won't even give me a preferred number to replace my easy number I have had for 15 years. As far as the internet, it is not working either. My download speed was guaranteed up to 15, but I am only getting 3-5, which I could live with, although my upload speed was guaranteed up to 2 although I am only getting .1-.6, when I do have enough band width so that the speed test doesn't time out before getting a measurement. Now I have no phone or internet and all I get from them is excuses, apologies, and offers of discounts. Switching to Hughesnet was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I am looking for another provider now.

Oh Hecks No!

Their service blows..... no other way to say it.
Its....OK for about 2 weeks IF you do nothing on it.
My children have to watch daily videos 15-30 minutes long, for schooling. One month in ran out in 2 weeks (50gigs)& the 3 children were gone for a week!!
I had no other choice for Internet so I was stuck Having to have it. To buy extra gigs, it's like 12 for every 2 gigs!! SERIOUSLY!
If you not needing streaming video you'll be ok.
If you are just checking emails and bank accounts online, you may just survive.

Customer service not good

Jan 17, 2016 by David Downey

Had the service for 3 years. Only had the 10 GB plan. could not watch movies or download much without running out of downloading. Had issues with service and needed service. Hughes contracted a company to come do the service. This company called and tried talking me into another system. I told them I just wanted the Hughes fixed and never heard from them again. The service never got fixed so went with another provider. When stopped Hughes they would not prorate the service they said I would have to pay for the remainder of the month. Not a good company. Try to stay away from them.

We got Hughesnet about 7-8 months ago. We live out in the country so had no other options. We also bought our own network security. I have noticed that when I get online for just even 20 minutes on WiFi, the data is used exponentially somehow. I rarely ever use the WIFI because I use my data on my phone. I'm just wondering how being on WiFi just surfing the internet and being on fb can eat up all the data? Me and my husband share 20gigs on our phones and don't even use half our gigs and we are constantly on our phones watching videos, downloacding, uploading, etc.. How is it that 10 gigs of Hughesnet data is eating up in less than a week? I track data usage on their site and I can be online for 5 minutes and low and behold, 3 gigs were used. Hum. They are a rip off. Do not get Hughesnet. Big rip off!!

Please Do Not use this Company!!!

I would unequivocally say Hughesnet is the worse: I am an IT person and have used Comcast,Verizon & dsl providers...no one has worse: customer service, false claims regarding speed nor failure to provide instructions. After one day we'd used up All of the allowance for downloading in 3 hrs!! The tech tried to blame it on Xbox one---but we didn't have this issue even with Dsl. So after several cAlls we cancelled. It costs us $100- but thankfully they honored the 30 day guarantee..but we have to remove the satellite disks. They are unethical. All the bad reviews you see online are true. Stay away!!

STAY THE FAT HELL AWAY FROM THIS SERVICE

Jan 09, 2016 by Maria Rosa

This is the biggest load of bs internet service ever. You can\'t even load a 6 second vine without it taking 10 minutes and forget about online gaming and Netflix! We\'ve been stuck with this internet for 2 years and the only time it would work decently was at 4am! Forget checking email or downloading anything. You watch two movies at 4 am and then you get a message saying your data is all used up. STTTAAAAY AWAY!

I live in a rural area with no other internet option. Hughes net promises you high speed internet but in reality it is no faster than dial up. All I use the service for is occasional surfing. Somehow after about a week they say I have used all my data and the speed comes to a screeching halt. They lock you into a 2 year contract because they know their service sucks and if there were no contract everyone would cancel after the first month. I\'ll be stuck paying for crappy service for another year and from what I hear even after your 2 years are up it is a hassle to cancel. Take my advice and stay away from them.

1.1 5.0 418 418 Was with Hughesnet for a total of 5 years. First 2 years by contract. Last 3, month to month. When I cancelled the service to go to Starlink, they were unwilling to prorate the Hughesnet Gen4 Satellite Internet
