This company is HORRIBLE. I have been dealing with them for over 3 years for a service I used for two months. The Internet was slow and never worked right. When I called to cancel it after two months they said I was locked into a contact because I didn't complain about the service within the first 30 days. They said I could suspend the service for 6 months. Which they still charged me $10 a month for equipment rental. After six months they turned it back on without asking me. I called again to cancel. They said it would be almost $500 to cancel because of the 2 year contract. The 6 months I had it suspended didn't count towards my two years. So I paid $45 a month for 2 1/2 years. My time was finally up, so I called a few weeks ago to cancel. After arguing that my time wasn't up and I needed to pay $150 to cancel, I hung up on them. I then received a box in the mail to send the equipment back. I sent everything I had and UPS picked up the shipment. One week later I received notification from my bank that hughesnet had charged me $318. I called and asked why. I was transfered twice until someone could finally answer my questions. They charged me $318 because I (the 33 week pregnant woman) didn't go on the roof, to the satellite, disconnect a radio transmittal and mail it back with the rest of the equipment. Why is that my job?? They send a contractor out to assemble the satellite. Why wouldn't they send someone to disassemble it? I will make sure everyone of my friends and family know to never use this company. It is a joke. I have disputed the charges and sent back the transmittal. I will never use this company for anything ever again, and I will make it a point to bad mouth them to anyone that will listen.

terrible

To get signed up I had to make the payment with a charge card. After the first month I called to make arrangements to have an actual statement sent to me in the mail so I could write a check instead of having it on my charge card. Then was charged a $5.00 invoice fee for a piece of paper! Called to find out about the fee and was told it was for the aggravation of having to send a statement to me. What a load of crap! I\'m sure these people are so busy sitting around that it is too big a burden to accommodate me even after I pay too damn much for their poor service. I agree with the others-run far away from these people.

Crap Service

Since my business is in a deadzone where Comcast or ATT is not available, the only choice I have is Hughesnet. CRAP service, rude representatives. Good internet connection 1 week out of the month. I pay over 100 dollars per month. I have no other choice right now- I'm stuck with these people. Never would I recommend them to anyone.

Unethical business practices.

This business drafts money out of ones account without verbal or written authorization. Having to file criminal felony charges and civil suit after second time this occurred within four months. Had a bill due do on December 2, 2015 for $130.23. Paid bill in full online with credit card on November 20, 2015, twelve days early, then on December 2, 2015 bank account was unauthorized drafted for another $ 125.32. Bill has never been late and account never signed up for any reoccurring payment. When I contacted their customer service in some outsourced third world country they transferred me around stating that because I used my credit card online to pay they can charge further payments on card even though bill is paid and there is no current bill pending. Also service is the slowest internet since AOL in the mid-1990’s. Takes 5-10 minutes to upload one web page.

When I called direct tv they set me up with this service. When I spoke to the hughesnet rep, I told her I like to stream movies and surf the net. She gave me the plan to fit my needs. Well that was the first problem. I had it installed and I immediately started to have issues streaming. I started a project at work and was unable to call until two weeks ago. The tech told me that j had to have a laptop to connect to the modem to determine the issue. I of course have an iPad. Can't connect. I call today to find out that I am over my usage and that is the reason for my slow connection. I ask to speak to someone to cancel this service to be told that because I am using service from Maryland, I will have this issue. So they knew from the beginning that I would have problems. Then he was generous, gave me more data to frustrate me with, and lowered my bill ten dollars. I can of course pay off the two year contract to get out of the plan. Would never recommend them or direct tv for referring me to them.

Worst customer service around/very shady company

Dec 01, 2015 by Molly

I was charged last month for something called 'Home Voice w/ Committment.' I did not order this at all and have not been charged for it nor do we have a phone through Hughesnet but they decided to charge me for it anyway. To get the reversal was incredible. I got this internet because that is all that is offered where we live out in the country. I put it in my fiance's name and even after he called and told them to let me make all major decisions on this account they still gave me grief about only talking to him. The bill is drawn out of my bank acct every month and it's my phone number and email that is linked to the acct but they still would not work with me. I think we are disconnecting today if issue today is not resolved.

HORRIBLE

I wouldn\'t recommend this service to my worst enemy!!!! I could barely understand the customer service employees as their English was so bad. It was the slowest internet service I\'d ever had and with lots of down times. They charged me 350$ for early termination and I had to send back all their cables, wires and satellite or they would charge me another 300$!! It was absolutely the worst experience dealing with them and the Internet is horrible. Now I\'m stuck with this big ugly half ass satellite on my house. Stay far away from this so called service.

Very shady operation

Nov 22, 2015 by Jim

This was supposed to be a bundle deal with directv when I signed up, but now nobody at Directv or Hughesnet seems to know anything about a bundle. So, there's really no way to tell what the service is going to cost me (other than about 8 hours on the phone so far). If you attempt to sign up for service, be extremely careful how you do it. I was supposed to get a $200 gift card for signing up. Guess what--if you call the wrong number for service that offer is not valid. Same with the free activation fee of $99. They even tell you that you will be charged with it, and then it will be refunded after you get hooked up. Wrong again! Called the wrong phone number again--offer not valid at that phone. The whole operation is very shady, I'd say bordering on fraud. It seems that I must have called the wrong phone again regarding download speeds--I would say it is comparable to dial-up, but just barely. I have not seen a contract, yet, but on checking I found that I had committed for 2 years. Can't even remember what phone I called to get signed up for that little jewel. I have no idea what internet company might be reputable--all seem to be about the same. But if you're looking for internet service, RUN LIKE THE WIND FROM HUGHESNET!!! or prepare to be screwed.

If you have any need for the internet then find an Internet provider, this company only provides frustration and anger, if it wasn\'t for hiding much needed information deep in the contract then this company would not exist because nobody would agree to this b.s. How do these people sleep at night. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

1.1 5.0 418 418 Was with Hughesnet for a total of 5 years. First 2 years by contract. Last 3, month to month. When I cancelled the service to go to Starlink, they were unwilling to prorate the Hughesnet Gen4 Satellite Internet
